If this whole football thing does not work out, Packers FB Danny Vitale is going to be right at home at Chip N Dales or maybe as a stunt double for Channing Tatum.
Vitale started out with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice squad before signing with the Cleveland Browns in 2016. In 2018, he joined the Packers’ practice squad and was moved to the active roster towards the end of the season. While Vitale played in 15 games last season, and started 4, he did not make much of an impact in Matt LaFleur’s new offensive scheme(even though he seems like a great fit for it).
He managed a total of 3-yards rushing and 97-yards receiving for the season. While he did get more receptions than any season prior, I was expecting him to be targeted more often given Davante Adams missing a few games and the Pack being light on the WR depth. We should hopefully see more of him this coming season, but no word yet on his return.
For the curious, his NFL combine bench press performance was 225lbs for 30 reps. His max is probably around 400lbs, but that’s just speculation on my part. I doubt he is testing his max press very often given the risk of injury and what his career is worth so we will probably never know for sure.
