Not that the Green Bay Packers were necessarily interested, but Bruce Arians says he has no interest in replacing Mike McCarthy.
The former Arizona Cardinals coach, who retired following last season, has said he would only unretire to coach the Cleveland Browns. He reiterated that on Wednesday.
“No, not at all,” Arians says in an interview with CBS Sports Radio. “If I ever return to coaching it will only be in Cleveland.”
Arians went on to agree that Green Bay is a great coaching job, but again said he wouldn’t take it.
“Yeah, it is,” Arians said. “I have no desire to coach in Green Bay.”
The interesting thing here is McCarthy is probably going to be the frontrunner for that Browns job. He has connections there because of general manager John Dorsey. He’s already been endorsed by former Packers center J.C. Tretter.
Probably the only thing that keeps McCarthy out of that job is if the stink on him is currently too great.
