The Green Bay Packers signed cornerback Bashaud Breeland, a guy they pursued in free agency, on Tuesday.
Breeland was initially signed by the Carolina Panthers at an average salary of $8 million per year. Then Breeland failed his physical. Deal voided.
The Packers were after a cornerback after putting Davon House on injured reserve.
At the moment, the Packers have three healthy cornerbacks who were on the roster to begin the season. Those guys are Tramon Williams, Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson.
Kevin King is injured, just like Kevin King is always injured. House went to IR and that’s that.
So yes, as much as the Packers should get themselves a new safety, it appears they had to replenish themselves at cornerback.
Breeland, as we detailed earlier, is a hell of an option.
And you know what?
He’s motivated. The old chip on the shoulder, if you will?
