Not quite sure what to say about this one. The Green Bay Packers, who were once again a flaming pile of crap on offense, somehow managed to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 26-20 with an overtime touchdown run.
What’s even more crazy, is the guy who won that game, Aaron Jones, won it on his first carry of the game. We had assumed the guy averaging 5.3 yards per carry would be the guy starting at running back over the guy averaging 3.2 yards per carry coming in. But that would make too damn much sense for Mike McCarthy.
Nonetheless, the 3.2-yards-per-carry guy toted the day for the Packers, running 21 times for 115 yards, an average of 5.4 yards per carry. Best game of the season for that kid.
Meanwhile, the Packers’ quarterback threw for a whopping 87 yards. As you can probably see by that total, he was mostly garbage on the day.
Actually, mostly garbage is an understatement.
Brett Hundley was straight-up garbage.
Hot garbage.
Burning garbage.
The defense managed to prop Hundley up for most of the day. Two-and-a-half sacks by Clay Matthews, two by Kenny Clark, a lucky play by Dean Lowry to be in the right place at the right time, which resulted in a touchdown and the play of Williams kept the Packers in this game.
A game they needed.
Then, here’s your loan carry of the game Aaron Jones. We’ll give it to you in overtime. Twenty yards. Touchdown. Game over.
With the frickin’ quarterback not even throwing for 100 yards.
Amazing.
Bonkers.
Hard to watch.
Pathetic, if you like.
But hell, at least the Green Bay Packers have two really good damn running backs going forward!
More importantly, bigger picture, the win-out-and-make-the-playoffs scenario is still on the table. Hundley only has to win one goddam game against the Cleveland Browns and then it’s AR time.
And who the hell wants to deal with that?
Nobody.
That’s fucking who.
