The Green Bay Packers dumped one of their underperforming outside linebackers. Unfortunately, much to the chagrin of many, it wasn’t Kyler Fackrell. It was Jayrone Elliott.
Elliott was traded to the Dallas Cowboys for a conditional seventh-round pick.
What’s the condition? Who the hell knows and it doesn’t really matter.
Elliott was an undrafted free agent the Packers signed in 2014. What has he done in the three years since then?
He’s been a preseason hero. After early flashes in his first two seasons, he added weight to try to be a full-time player and he sucked. Elliott has a total of four sacks in three seasons with the Packers.
But the outside linebacker position is weak…
Well, yes it is. However, the Packers signed Chris Odom after he was released by the Atlanta Falcons.
Who the hell is Chris Odom?
He’s a rookie from Arkansas State. He had two sacks in the preseason and Big Ted obviously thinks he should have drafted the guy.
At the end of the day, what’s the difference?
Elliott wasn’t producing. He wasn’t a draft pick. The Packers might get something for him. And maybe Odom will produce.
