Coach Mike McCarthy had what appears to be a pretty stern message for running back Eddie Lacy before he hit the road.
You’re too fat.
“Well, I mean Eddie Lacy, he’s got a lot of work to do. I think I’m stating the obvious. His offseason last year was not good enough and he never recovered from it,” McCarthy said. “I had a chance to talk to Eddie today and that was pretty much the majority of our whole conversation. So he has to get it done because he cannot play at the weight that he played at this year.”
Lacy was productive when the Packers fed him the ball, but spent most of the season in the doghouse.
That resulted in a disappointing year and a career-low 758 yards and three touchdowns.
The Packers needed Lacy to carry their sputtering offense and, for the most part, he didn’t step up, getting both demoted for James Starks and benched for missing curfew.
Hopefully, he gets the message this time.
