Well, the Green Bay Packers are really shaking things up! They’ve apparently identified one of the culprits for the team’s recent swoon and they’ve released him. And that culprit is… third-string running back Alonzo Harris.
See ya later, Harris! Now we can get back to our winning ways!
Oh, right. That makes no sense, but the Packers made that move anyway. They’ve replaced Harris on the roster with practice squad running back John Crockett.
Interesting. The #Packers released RB Alonzo Harris today and promoted RB John Crockett from practice squad. Both are UFA rookies

And with that brilliant move, everyone has been put on notice!
Yeah, just getting again.
It is interesting though.
Coach Mike McCarthy raved about Harris coming out camp. We, frankly, thought he had no business making the roster. He was outperformed by both Crockett and Rajion Neal during the preseason, by a noticeable margin.
We barely gave Neal a roster spot over Crockett and had Harris as an afterthought.
Still, Harris did get some regular-season action and he didn’t look bad.
The rookie from Louisiana-Layfayette carried four times for 19 yards. He appeared in six games, mostly on special teams.
Also a rookie, Crockett played at North Dakota State, where he ran for more than 4,300 yards in three seasons.
We have to think one of two things happened here. Either Harris did something stupid — hookers and blow! — and the Packers decided they didn’t want him around anymore or Crockett was just looking so good in practice, the staff thought he deserved a shot.
The latter scenario played out with Jared Abbrederis earlier this season. He started off on the practice squad and the Packers promoted him when they felt he was just too good not to have on the active roster.
We wouldn’t be surprised if Harris is added back to the practice squad, providing he clears waivers.
