To say defensive end Mike Neal has been an utter failure since the Green Bay Packers drafted him in the second round in 2010 would be an understatement. He’s been plagued by injuries, ineffective when healthy and now he’s been suspended for the first four games of the 2012 season.
Way to go, dick.
The league released the following statement.
Mike Neal of the Green Bay Packers has been suspended without pay for the team’s first four games of the 2012 regular season for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances.
Neal will be eligible to return to the Packers’ active roster on the day after the team’s fourth regular-season game of the 2012 season.
Neal is eligible to participate in all offseason and preseason practices and games.
Neal missed 14 games his rookie season and nine in 2011 because of injury after being handed a starting job in training camp. He hasn’t started a single game with the Packers. Career stats: six tackles, no sacks.
Now, Neal will miss at least four games in 2012. Is it too early to call this guy a monumental bust along the lines of Justin Harrell? Probably, but that time is rapidly approaching.
Look for the Packers to go fishing for a defensive end high in this year’s draft. Obviously Neal can’t be counted on.
