Yesterday, coach Matt LaFleur informed us that LB Za’Darius Smith will be placed on injured reserve.
It goes without saying that this is a huge blow to the team and Rodgers’ so-called last dance. Za’Darius Smith, along with Preston Smith, were a hot duo for the team the past couple of seasons. Between the two, Za’Darius seemed to be at his best last season and his absence will certainly be felt on the defensive side of the ball.
Both players were the result of a rare and expensive free agent shopping spree by the team. The acquisitions paid off in the 2019 season, and lesser so in the 2020 season.
Smith’s addition to the IR is a huge boon for upcoming opponent Detroit Lions. Following an embarrassing loss to the Saints, the Packers are expected to take it out on their underdog cohort.
