Jeff Tedford was the coach at Cal when Aaron Rodgers played there. Rodgers was not pleased when Cal fired Tedford after the 2012 season.
For some years, Rodgers would say Butte Community College as his school during the televised pregame introductions. Our assumption was always that this was because Cal dismissed Tedford.
However, Tedford is now coaching Fresno State. Rodgers is again cool with Cal, mostly, we believe, because they hired former Wisconsin Badgers defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox as their head coach in 2017. Wilcox seemed to make an effort to bring Rodgers back into the fold.
But there’s still no shortage of love from Rodgers for his guy Tedford, who he credits with helping develop him as a player.
They met up on the golf course at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am this week.
