A.J. Hawk is one of the most divisive players in Green Bay Packers’ history. Many love him. Others hate him as a football player. However, you’ll find nary a person who will say A.J. Hawk is not a decent person.
With that out of the way, A.J. Hawk does have one regret. It’s the same regret we all have. It’s the same regret Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy should have…
For me, my only regret is that we didn’t win multiple Super Bowls during my time in Green Bay.
Think about it: When you have Aaron Rodgers, who is the greatest quarterback of all time, you always have a shot at winning it all. And we had a great group of guys around him, too. I played with Brett Favre for two years and Aaron Rodgers for seven, and we only won one ring. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll always cherish the Super Bowl ring that I do have. But looking back, I believe we should have won more.
Ain’t that the truth.
Unfortunately for the Packers, many of the years they’ve fallen short of the Super Bowl was because of the defense. The exceptions, in Hawk’s era, were 2007 and 2014.
Both years were years the Packers made it to the NFC Championship. The first was the year Brett Favre threw the pick in overtime to Corey Webster. The second was the year Rodgers stunk it up in Seattle.
And really, those are the two other rings Hawk should have, had it not been for his quarterbacks. In every other one of his seasons in Green Bay, the Packers simply weren’t good enough.
