We don’t know what qualifications former Green Bay Packers tackle (and Badger great) Mark Tauscher has to be governor of Wisconsin, if any. That isn’t stopping people from pushing him to run against incumbent Scott Walker in 2018, though.
Here is the Mark Tauscher for Governor of Wisconsin Facebook page.
From what I can gather, some people are so sick of Walker — and they don’t see a viable 2018 opponent — that they’re just going with someone who is locally famous. Having played for the Packers and Badgers, Tauscher fits the bill in Wisconsin.
This was the first actual post on the page.
Looking at the Field of candidates we see nobody with the broad appeal of former Badger/Packer Mark Tauscher. This page is a grassroots page dedicated to the idea that University of Wisconsin educated and former member of the NFL player’s Union is the people’s pick to move Wisconsin Forward Again.
Of course, the group behind this effort has no actual affiliation with Tauscher. Does he even have political aspirations?
That is not known. He’s been active in the community, but has only done sports radio since his playing days ended.
Does that qualify you to be governor?
Maybe only in Wisconsin.
