The Green Bay Packers are tinkering with their practice squad already. They signed receiver/tight end Devon Cajuste on Wednesday and released inside linebacker Beniquez Brown.
The Packers were supposedly signing Cajuste on Sunday to their initial practice squad, at least if you were paying attention to all of the obviously erroneous media reports that said so. There clearly was interest, but the Packers waited a few days to do anything about it.
And that sucks if you’re Beniquez Brown.
Cajuste is an undrafted rookie from Stanford — Ted Thompson loves his Stanford guys — who spent training camp with the 49ers. He played receiver in college, but it appears the Packers are moving him to tight end.
That’s probably because he’s a big boy. Cajuste is 6-4 and 234. His strength is in his size, but he’s not known as a great receiver. He is known as a decent blocker, albeit as a receiver…
In other words, here’s a project for the Packers to work on.
