Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers enter the 2026 season with legitimate playoff aspirations, but one recent NFL analysis offered a concerning outlook by predicting Green Bay could finish at the bottom of the highly competitive NFC North. The projection centered less on a lack of talent and more on the difficult challenges facing the Packers in one of football’s toughest divisions.

The analysis pointed to several major concerns that could complicate Green Bay’s path to success. Despite possessing one of the league’s youngest and most promising rosters, the Packers continue to rely heavily on developing players at key positions. That youth brings significant upside, but it also creates uncertainty when competing against experienced teams capable of capitalizing on mistakes during critical moments.

Another factor involves the demanding schedule awaiting Matt LaFleur’s team. The Packers must navigate a division featuring multiple playoff-caliber opponents while also facing several elite contenders outside the NFC North. Every divisional matchup is expected to carry enormous importance, leaving little room for prolonged inconsistency if Green Bay hopes to remain in postseason contention throughout the year.

Questions surrounding the pass rush and overall defensive consistency also contributed to the cautious prediction. While the Packers possess talented defenders capable of making game-changing plays, the unit must generate more consistent pressure against top quarterbacks. Improving that area would not only strengthen the defense but also reduce pressure on the offense in tightly contested games.

Green Bay is predicted to finish last in its own division next season. This is detailed more in an analysis by Moe Moton for Bleacher Report.

Without Parsons to mask coverage issues in the secondary, the Packers could be off to a slow start this year. If the Minnesota Vikings offense looks sharp with quarterback Kyler Murray, Green Bay could be in an uphill climb to stay out of the NFC North basement.

Even with those concerns, Green Bay retains many reasons for optimism. Love continues to develop as the franchise quarterback, and the offense features an exciting collection of young receivers, tight ends and running backs. The organization also believes another year of experience will help several emerging players take meaningful steps forward, giving the roster greater overall balance than it possessed a season ago.

Preseason projections often generate discussion because they are based on possibilities rather than results. The Packers now have an opportunity to prove that concerns about their roster are overstated, and if their young core continues to mature while the defense improves in key areas, Green Bay could quickly turn a pessimistic forecast into another successful run toward the playoffs.
