Green Bay Packers’ Most Underrated Move of 2026 Offseason Revealed

The Green Bay Packers made several notable additions during the 2026 NFL offseason, but one move is increasingly being viewed as the franchise’s most underrated acquisition entering the new season. While larger headlines surrounded major signings and roster changes, the Packers quietly strengthened key areas that could have a major impact on the team’s pursuit of a deep playoff run.

Among the moves generating growing attention is the addition of veteran linebacker Zaire Franklin, whose leadership and consistency could become extremely valuable for Green Bay’s defense. He built a reputation as one of the league’s most productive linebackers during his time with the Indianapolis Colts, and the Packers believe his experience and physical style of play can stabilize the middle of the defense.

Green Bay also focused heavily on improving overall defensive toughness through the additions of defensive lineman Javon Hargrave and cornerback Benjamin St-Juste. Hargrave brings proven pass-rushing ability and interior disruption to a defensive front that needed more consistent pressure, while St-Juste adds size and depth to the secondary entering a demanding NFC schedule.

Offensively, the Packers made a lower-profile move by adding wide receiver Skyy Moore as they continue building around quarterback Jordan Love. The organization hopes Moore can provide versatility and another reliable option within an offense expected to take another step forward as Love enters a crucial stage of his development as the franchise centerpiece.

The franchise didn’t make a big splash during the offseason but performed a major move nonetheless. This is detailed more in an analysis by Rob Demovsky for ESPN.

This is more of a philosophical adjustment than just one move, but after three straight seasons with the youngest roster in the NFL, the Packers made some under-the-radar moves to change that. It started with the trade for Colts linebacker Zaire Franklin (who turns 30 in July and has eight NFL seasons under his belt) and continued with the signing of 33-year-old defensive tackle Javon Hargrave (10 seasons) and cornerback Benjamin St-Juste (28, five seasons). While Skyy Moore (who will be 26 at the start of the season) is the youngest of the group, he’s still a veteran who could finally help the kick return game.

The underrated nature of Green Bay’s offseason may stem from the fact that many of the additions were focused more on balance and depth rather than splashy headlines. Instead of completely reshaping the roster, the Packers concentrated on reinforcing weaknesses and surrounding their young core with experienced contributors capable of fitting into Matt LaFleur’s system quickly.

As expectations continue rising around the Packers entering the 2026 season, the success of these quieter roster moves could ultimately determine how far the team advances in the NFC playoff race. If players like Franklin and Hargrave deliver the consistency Green Bay expects, the organization’s most underrated offseason decisions may eventually become some of its most important ones.
