The Green Bay Packers and Micah Parsons wasted little time embracing a new rivalry after the 2026 NFL Draft, as the star defender offered advice to new Los Angeles Rams quarterback Ty Simpson. The defensive end praised Simpson’s landing spot while also making it clear that any goodwill ends once the games begin.
Simpson entered one of the league’s most intriguing situations after being selected by the Rams. The rookie joins a franchise with proven leadership, offensive creativity and an established veteran starter in Matthew Stafford, giving him a rare opportunity to develop patiently.

Parsons focused first on the value of learning from Stafford and head coach Sean McVay. Few young quarterbacks enter the NFL with access to a Super Bowl-winning quarterback and one of the sport’s most respected offensive minds, making Los Angeles an ideal environment for growth.
He also pointed to the talent surrounding Simpson. With accomplished veterans and proven playmakers already in place, the rookie steps into an offense designed to support quarterbacks and maximize their strengths rather than forcing immediate heroics.
Green Bay Packers Star Micah Parsons’ Advice to Los Angeles Rams Rookie Ty Simpson

Parsons dropped some advice for Simpson after the Rams selected him in the draft. This can be seen in a video shared by Bleacher Report.
“Two things,” Parsons said. “Absorb as much as you can from Matthew Stafford. He’s one of the all-time GOATs. Even Sean McVay. You don’t understand the situation you’ve been blessed into. Take full advantage of that. Absorb as much as you can. Like, if any quarterback came into the league, you gonna play with Puka Nacua, all-time great Davante Adams, two of the greatest OGs of this game. Absorb it all bro. And number two, Just stay away from the Packers man. Just make sure you never see us. Now, we’re enemies. The draft is over, we’re enemies forever now. But I hope you have a long and joyous career man. I wish nothing but the best for you.
Still, Parsons made sure to remind Simpson that friendships have limits in the NFL. Once the draft concluded, the Packers defender framed the relationship through a competitive lens, signaling that future meetings between Green Bay and Los Angeles would come with no favors.
The exchange blended respect, humor and the edge that defines professional football. Simpson now begins his career in a favorable setting, but Parsons’ message served as an early reminder that development opportunities are valuable only until opponents line up across from you.
