Green Bay Packers president and CEO Ed Policy reflected on the lasting impact of former team leader Bob Harlan, highlighting the influence he continues to have on the organization. He emphasized that Harlan’s legacy remains deeply woven into the culture and daily operations of the franchise.
Harlan’s leadership helped shape the modern identity of the Packers, guiding the team through significant periods of growth and stability. His approach extended beyond football, focusing on relationships, accountability and a strong connection with the community.

Policy noted that recent gatherings honoring Harlan brought together fans, staff and former colleagues who shared stories about his character and leadership. Those moments reinforced how widely his influence was felt throughout the organization and beyond.
The example Harlan set continues to guide current leadership, particularly in how they support coaches and front office personnel. Policy has adopted a similar approach, prioritizing communication and ensuring that key decision-makers have what they need to succeed.

Policy recently spoke about the late Harlan and his lasting impact on the organization. This can be seen in an update he posted on the team’s official website.
I know I wrote at length last month about his impact on me personally and our organization, but it was reiterated how deeply his impact resonated last week when fans joined us in the atrium to remember his life and legacy. Hearing the stories of his coworkers and fans was heartwarming. Coach McCarthy reminisced about Bob frequently greeting him with a cup of coffee, checking in to make sure Mike had everything he needed from Bob. That is an example I am proud to follow, often checking in with Matt, Brian and Russ to ensure they have everything they need from me to be successful. Forever memorializing him on the facade of Lambeau Field this fall is the most fitting way I can think of to honor such an integral part of our franchise.
Harlan’s impact also extends to the team’s physical and symbolic identity, with plans in place to further honor his legacy at Lambeau Field. Recognizing his contributions in such a permanent way reflects the significance of his role in shaping the franchise.
As the Packers move forward, Harlan’s influence remains a guiding force within the organization. Policy’s reflections underscore a commitment to preserving that legacy while continuing to build on the foundation that Harlan helped establish.
