Baylor tight end Michael Trigg has emerged as a potential Day 2 prospect for the Green Bay Packers ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft. His combination of size, athleticism and versatility has placed him firmly on the radar as the team evaluates offensive weapons.

Trigg’s path to prominence has been defined by steady development and flashes of high-end playmaking ability. At Baylor, he showcased a skill set that blends receiving upside with the physical traits needed to handle in-line responsibilities at the next level.

Standing out as a pass catcher, Trigg has demonstrated an ability to stretch the seam and create mismatches against linebackers and safeties. His body control and catch radius allow quarterbacks to trust him in contested situations, making him a reliable option in key downs.

Green Bay’s offensive structure under Matt LaFleur has long valued tight ends who can contribute in multiple phases. Trigg’s versatility could make him an appealing fit, as he offers both red-zone potential and the flexibility to move across formations.

Trigg was recently identified as a possible prospect for Green Bay during Day 2 of the NFL Draft this offseason. This is detailed more in an analysis by Mike Spofford for the team’s official website.

“Played one year at USC and two at Ole Miss before transferring to Baylor for his final two seasons … Was limited by injuries at his second stop but broke out at Baylor, catching 30 passes for 395 yards and three TDs in 2024, then following up with 50 catches for 694 yards and six TDs last season … Named second-team All-Big 12 in ’24, then first-team All-Big 12 and third-team AP All-America in ’25 … Considered a matchup problem due to his size and massive catch radius, as his wingspan measurement of 84 3/8 inches set a new combine record for tight ends … More a receiving and yards-after-catch threat than in-line blocker but could still grow into his frame … Also played basketball in high school in Florida,” Spofford said.

While still refining aspects of his blocking and consistency, Trigg’s upside remains evident. Scouts view him as a player who can grow into a larger role with proper development, particularly in a system that emphasizes timing and spacing.

If available on Day 2, Trigg could represent strong value for a Packers team looking to add dynamic talent to its offense. His trajectory suggests he has the tools to become a meaningful contributor at the professional level.
