The Green Bay Packers are mourning the loss of one of the most influential figures in franchise history. Former team president and chief executive officer Bob Harlan has passed away at the age of 89, prompting tributes from across the organization.

Current Packers president Ed Policy released a statement honoring Harlan’s legacy and the lasting impact he had on the franchise. Policy reflected on Harlan’s leadership and the role he played in shaping the modern era of Packers football.

Harlan served as the franchise’s president and CEO for nearly two decades, guiding the organization through a transformative period beginning in the late 1980s. During his tenure, the team experienced renewed stability both on and off the field while strengthening its connection with the community of Green Bay.

Under Harlan’s leadership, the Packers returned to prominence within the NFL and achieved one of the franchise’s most memorable accomplishments with a Super Bowl championship in the 1996 season. His vision also helped modernize the organization while preserving the unique community ownership structure that distinguishes the team from other franchises.

Beyond the success on the field, Harlan was widely respected for his commitment to the organization’s long-term health. His leadership extended to improvements at Lambeau Field and the development of initiatives designed to ensure the franchise’s continued stability in one of the league’s smallest markets.

As the community reflects on Harlan’s legacy, the organization continues to honor the foundation he helped build. His influence remains deeply embedded in the team’s identity and the tradition that continues to define football in Green Bay.
