Matt LaFleur sought to move the narrative forward Tuesday as the Packers prepared for a playoff rematch with the Chicago Bears, insisting the overtime loss in their last meeting is behind them. LaFleur said the team must focus on the present and the adjustments needed for Saturday’s wild‑card showdown.

Green Bay’s head coach spoke after a jog‑through practice and ahead of a padded workout, stressing preparation over rehashing past mistakes. The Packers lost in dramatic fashion when Chicago rallied late and won in overtime, a defeat that exposed situational breakdowns and left a lingering sense of unfinished business in the locker room.

LaFleur acknowledged the sting of the loss but emphasized control over the controllables, namely execution, health and situational readiness. The coach also provided updates on several players, noting his expectation that key contributors will be available and that recent roster moves have shored up special teams and depth. Those personnel notes formed part of a broader message about being ready to execute in a hostile environment.

Film study and schematic tweaks have been central to the Packers’ week, with coaches breaking down the late‑game sequence that allowed Chicago to tie the contest and the overtime series that ended on a turnover. LaFleur’s staff is adjusting protections, personnel groupings and situational calls to reduce the chance of a repeat under the bright lights at Soldier Field.

LaFleur recently spoke about Green Bay’s last loss to the Bears. This can be seen in an article by Mike Spofford for the team’s official website.

“I think that’s in the past,” Matt LaFleur said Tuesday, shortly before the team embarked on a jog-through practice as a warm-up to Wednesday’s padded practice.

“There’s nothing we can do about that. We’ve just got to look to the future.”

The matchup carries historic weight as a rare playoff meeting between these century‑old rivals, and LaFleur reminded his players of the stakes without letting emotion overshadow preparation. He framed the rematch as a new game, one where past results matter only insofar as they inform corrections and sharpen focus.

Ultimately, LaFleur’s comments were a call for calm and readiness, a coach aiming to steady his club ahead of a single‑elimination test. The Packers must translate that mindset into cleaner execution if they are to reverse the late‑season slide and advance. The result Saturday night will reveal whether leaving the past behind was sound strategy or wishful thinking.
