In parts of the last three seasons, the Packers have had to work hard to identify their long-term solution at placekicker.

After saying goodbye to Mason Crosby and being put through the ringer with the likes of Anders Carlson and Brayden Narveson, the franchise has finally found its long-term option in Brandon McManus, who kicked at an elite level last season.

Brandon McManus Earned His New Contract

A former Super Bowl champion, McManus was the longtime kicker for the Denver Broncos for nine seasons (2014-2022) before bouncing between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Washington Commanders each of the last two seasons.

After his time ended with both of those teams, and after some legal issues took place, he found a home with the Packers.

In 11 games with the Packers last season, he went 20-of-21 on field-goal attempts and didn’t miss a single extra point.

His performance resulted in him earning a fresh three-year, $15.3 million deal from the organization, which now seemingly means that Packer fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

Can Brandon McManus Be Clutch When It Matters?

In a big, early-season moment from McManus, he booted the game-winning field goal for the Packers in their Week 7 win over the eventual AFC South winners, the Houston Texans.

If the 33-year-old had missed that kick, who knows if he would still be kicking in the NFL after he had bounced around between multiple teams.

But now, it appears as though his present and future are set for the time being after earning a nice contract from Packers GM Brian Gutekunst and Co.

However, he did miss a key field goal late in the game against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wildcard Round last postseason, which gave Packer fans a very familiar and sick feeling.

Regardless, his entire body of work appears to have passed the test for the Packers’ organization and the fan base.

Green Bay, judging by the talent on the roster and the type of culture that head coach Matt LaFleur has put in place, figures to be in plenty of big games this season.

All eyes will be on McManus as he looks to prove that the Packers were right in giving him a big contract.
