There’s no denying that Jordan Love’s tenure as the starting quarterback of the Green Bay Packers has been a mixed bag. His first year under center was a legit roller coaster, while year two as Aaron Rodgers’ replacement started off with more than a few bumps.
Despite some inconsistency and injuries, Love has mostly passed the eye test. He’s put up stellar numbers for a solid Green Bay offense, and most importantly, the Packers have been winning.
But after a two-year run that some would mark as “incomplete”, the question is fair; where do we go from here? There is reason for some doubt, but there are also plenty of signs to suggest a massive leap could be coming in 2025 – one that might even lead to his first NFL MVP trophy.

Sportsbooks Don’t Hate His NFL MVP Chances
The NFL MVP winner usually doesn’t come completely out of nowhere. They don’t have to be the odds-on favorite, but they typically are at least on everyone’s radar to some degree.
Jordan Love enters the regular season with the 7th best NFL MVP odds (+2200). That understandably guarantees nothing, but if online betting sites think he’s in the mix, then he at least has a chance.
For comparison’s sake, the eventual NFL MVP winner has had the same odds as Love or better in each of the last four seasons. If you want a larger sample size, just five league MVPs have opened the season with odds at +4000 or greater since 2004, while only two were north of +5000.
The point? Love is priced like a legit NFL MVP contender.
Love Has Put Up NFL MVP Numbers Before
Perhaps more telling than his MVP odds are Love’s stats he’s put up in two years as a starter. It’s true that inconsistency and turnovers have been issues at times, but in his first season as Green Bay’s main man he put up over 4,100 passing yards and 32 touchdowns.
Love’s numbers declined in 2024, but he had two very good reasons for a mild step back; an injury caused him to miss all or parts of three games, plus the addition of stud running back Josh Jacobs siphoned his red-zone production.
Despite missing two starts and most of a clash with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Love still put up 25 touchdowns through the air. Jacobs was a smash hit for the green and gold, too, finding the end-zone a whopping 15 times on the ground.
If Love can stay healthy and Jacobs endures what figures to be likely TD regression, Love’s numbers are sure to spike.
His Supporting Cast Only Got Better
You can use the arrival of Jacobs against Love in terms of raw stats upside, but having a healthy ground game also makes life easier on Green Bay’s offense.
Of course, Jacobs is just one piece to the puzzle. With a solid o-line and a productive rushing attack in place, the Packers paid special attention to their passing game during the 2025 NFL Draft.
That meant spending a first round pick on a wide receiver (Matthew Golden) for the first time since the Silent Era, while the team double-dipped and also got a shiny new toy in Savion Williams.
These new additions both help account for the early-season absence of explosive wide receiver Christian Watson, and give Love the most complete and dynamic offensive roster he’s ever had.
Green Bay’s Schedule Demands Dominance
There are several things working in Love’s favor in his plight to win his first NFL MVP. One thing could go either way, and that’s Green Bay’s brutal 2025 NFL schedule.
The NFL did not take it easy on the Packers, as they not only have to make it out of the competitive NFC North, but they also face the 6th toughest schedule in the league.
While that could ultimately be a nail in the coffin for Green Bay’s prospects, it could also be a catalyst for Love racing to an MVP trophy. Given the tough road ahead, Love will naturally need to be at his very best, plus overcoming this insane string of games would only add fuel to the “Love for MVP” fire.
Will Jordan Love Win the 2025 NFL MVP Award?
Ultimately, Jordan Love still has a lot to prove. I tend to believe his 2025 season could have been better if he was at full strength, and that there is room to grow going into his third year as the team’s starter.
With an enhanced offensive supporting cast, a defense that helps more than it hurts, and favorable odds for him to at least be in the conversation, this could be the year Love puts it all together.
If that ends up being true, the Packers could take the next step collectively and it just might mean he ends the season with some individual hardware, while NFL bettors end up with some cash.
