The Green Bay Packers are set to get a good look at the two wide receivers they selected in the first three rounds of the draft during their rookie minicamp this weekend. The Packers drafted Matthew Golden in the first round and Savion Williams in the third round.
The Packers needed to boost their wide receiver corps this offseason, especially considering the unknown in the upcoming season with Christian Watson. Watson suffered an ACL injury during Green Bay’s 24-22 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 18.
Given the time of the injury, it’s unclear when or if Watson will return to the field in 2025. The Packers did have a hopeful update in March when the fourth-year pass catcher was seen exercising on a treadmill and wrote “back soon” on his Instagram page in March.
Green Bay Packers’ Matt LaFleur on Christian Watson’s progress
During his press conference with reporters for rookie training camp on Friday, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur provided an update on Watson’s progress this offseason. He said Watson looked like a “freak” in a positive way.
“He looks like a freak, like he always does, in a positive way,” LaFleur said of Watson. “He’s been great, he’s been outstanding. Just great attitude and he’s working hard.”

Watson has been a key contributor to the offense when healthy, but injuries (hamstring) have clouded his three-year career. He finished with 620 yards receiving and two touchdowns last season.
He’s played in 38 games and started 35 since he was drafted in the second round of the 2022 draft.
