The Green Bay Packers have only signed two new players in NFL free agency. Aaron Banks, an offensive lineman formerly of the San Francisco 49ers, was one of them. Brian Gutekunst also went out and brought in cornerback Nate Hobbs.
Hobbs ended up receiving a four-year, $48 million contract from the Packers. Clearly, the team feels that he will be a piece to build around moving forward.
Throughout his first four NFL seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, Hobbs ended up playing in 51 total games. He racked up 281 tackles, three sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, three interceptions, and 19 defended passes.
At 25 years old, Hobbs is just entering the prime of his career. He has an incredibly bright future ahead of him.
Heading into 2025, Hobbs will be sporting the No. 21 jersey number in Green Bay. Of course, the last time the Packers signed a former Raiders cornerback and gave him the No. 21 jersey, it was Charles Woodson who turned out to be an absolute superstar.

Being given the No. 21 jersey did not go over Hobbs’ head. He took some time to honor Woodson’s legacy with the Packers.
“One of the best to ever do it. I gotta pay him homage,” Hobbs said. “He gave me a shoutout (with the Raiders), said I was a dog, so I appreciate him and hopefully we can reconnect out here.”
Needless to say, it’s a good look that Hobbs knows his Green Bay history. Woodson is still very loved by Packers fans and will never be forgotten for what he was able to accomplish with the franchise.
It’s likely that Hobbs will end up being a starter and could even replace Jaire Alexander. To this point in the offseason, Green Bay has held onto Alexander. Should they choose to keep him, Hobbs would likely start across from him.
Hopefully, the Packers have found their next big thing at the cornerback positions. Hobbs is excited to be in Green Bay and it will be interesting to see what kind of impact he can make for the team.
