Over the last week, the Green Bay Packers have been heavily linked to blockbuster trade talks regarding Seattle Seahawks superstar wide receiver DK Metcalf.
At one point in time, it even appeared that the Packers had a good shot to land him. Unfortunately, they have missed on that possible acquisition.
Metcalf would have been an amazing addition to the Green Bay offense. He’s exactly the kind of big-play threat and No. 1 wideout that Jordan Love has needed. Now, he has been traded elsewhere.
According to a report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Pittsburgh Steelers have acquired DK Metcalf from the Seahawks.

Seattle now has traded QB Geno Smith to the Raiders, and WR Metcalf to the Steelers.

Not only did the Steelers pull off a trade for Metcalf, they also signed him to an enormous new contract extension. The contract is worth $150 million over five years.

What’s Next for the Green Bay Packers After Missing on DK Metcalf?
While Metcalf would have been fun to watch with the Packers, giving him a five-year, $150 million contract is very rich. He will be making that money until he is 33 years old. That is a big gamble to take on a wide receiver who relies on his athleticism.
Green Bay now has to figure out what they’re going to do at the wide receiver position. There is a very real chance that Brian Gutekunst and company end up not swinging big on one this offseason. They could simply focus on trying to add another solid piece in the 2025 NFL draft.
Only time will tell, but fans are worried. Love and the passing game were not nearly good enough in 2024. Part of that was due to the fact that he had no go-to wide receiver.
Heading into the 2025 season with the same wide receiver room would be a major risk. It could pay off for the Packers, but more than likely it would end with a need for a wideout next offseason as well. Perhaps Green Bay has something left up their sleeve.

DK Metcalf is a head case. Gutekunst was never going to give up a second round pick and a huge contract for him. Gutekunst has proven he can find WR’s in the draft. But more importantly those rookie wideouts will play on cheap contracts. Letting Gutekunst to use his limited resources elsewhere to strengthen his roster.
I’m not sure exactly why but this blog is loading very slow for me.
Is anyone else having this problem or is it a problem on my end?
