Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, once again, has found (made) himself one of the biggest stories on the NFL offseason. After the worst statistical season of his NFL career (in which he played a full season), the four-time NFL MVP was informed by the New York Jets that they were going in a different direction at quarterback.
Since then, the Jets have signed former Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields and released Rodgers with a post-June 1 designation.
Heading into the offseason, the former Packers quarterback had stated that if he played in 2025, he wanted it to be with New York. As that is no longer a possibility, Rodgers is weighing is options for the upcoming season, and taking his sweet time in doing so.

Of course, Rodgers, who is 41 years old and will turn 42 during the 2025 NFL season, could always retire. It is an option that he has reportedly weighed heavily in the past, and there is no reason to think that this offseason is any different in that regard.
That being said, the former Packers quarterback is not one to let a team determine his personal destiny. He wants to end his NFL career on his terms, not because he wasn’t wanted.
Fortunately for him, the New York Giants and Steelers are two teams that have expressed interest in the future Pro Football Hall of Famer. Last weekend, in fact, Rodgers spent six hours meeting with the Steelers at their team facility.
While he did not sign a contract, there is a strong indication that Rodgers will, eventually, sign with Pittsburgh for the 2025 season, and maybe even 2026.

But there does not appear to be rush on Rodgers’ part to sign a deal. And while many Steelers fans are impatient, wanting an answer one way or another, former Packers wide receiver and Super Bowl champion James Jones believes they have their own team to blame for the delay.
Speaking on Fox Sports‘ “The Facility,” Jones said, “It’s too late—you already showed Aaron Rodgers, ‘we are waiting on you.’ We told all these quarterbacks no. We told Russell Wilson no. We lost out on all these quarterbacks. So, the only option left to do—if you want to try to have a productive season—is to bring in Aaron Rodgers. You have to wait on him.”

The NFL Draft is a month away, and Pittsburgh will undoubtedly be looking for a quarterback at some point, whether it be in the first round or on Day Two. They would love for that quarterback to be able to sit behind and learn from Rodgers for a year or two, but will not be able to adequately plan for the upcoming season until the former Packers quarterback makes a decision.
And it’s their own fault.

It’s gotta be about $$$. It has to be worth it for Rodgers. I don’t fault Pittsburgh here, or consider it their “fault”… it is what it is. Think about it: what other options does Aaron have? The Giants… really?? Not unless he just wants a paycheck. There’s only the Steelers if AR cares about relevance. And I’m guessing he does.
