The Green Bay Packers desperately need to add a disruptive pass rusher this offseason, and the 2025 NFL Draft Class is potentially the last chance to fill one of the roster’s few holes.
Slated to pick No. 23 overall, general manager Brian Gutekunst and the Packers could add a dynamic player, capable of executing the franchise’s stated goal of being able to generate consistent front-four pressure without needing to blitz.
If things fall the right away, the Packers might emerge from the first round of the draft with a disruptive playmaker with plenty of familiarity and success in defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley’s system.
Could The Green Bay Packers Target Donovan Ezeiruaku
In Pro Football Focus NFL analyst Dalton Wasserman’s latest mock draft projection, the Packers pluck Boston College edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku at No. 23 overall.
“Packers edge defenders posted the fifth-lowest PFF pass-rush grade in the NFL last season,” Wasserman writes for PFF. “The team could opt to wait for their other young players to develop, but things haven’t looked promising so far on that front. Ezeiruaku is familiar with defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley from their days together at Boston College. He also just finished a terrific final college season with a 90.5 PFF pass-rush grade and 14 sacks.”
At 6-foot-2 and 247 pounds, Ezeiruaku fits the profile of a disruptive force, having produced 26 hurries and 20 quarterback hits, in addition to his 14 sacks, while garnering an elite 90.5 pass-rushing grade from Pro Football Focus.
Across three seasons at Boston College, Ezeiruaku logged 24 sacks, and could be an immediate plug-and-play high impact player in Green Bay.
“Good football player,” an AFC National Scout told NFL Media of Ezeiruaku. “Not crazy explosive but smart and productive.”
