In two of the past three seasons, the Green Bay Packers have selected a wide receiver in the second round of the NFL Draft. In 2022, Green Bay landed on North Dakota State Bison standout Christian Watson with the 34th overall selection. A speedy wideout, Watson became an immediate contributor for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, snagging 41 receptions for 611 yards and seven touchdowns. Unfortunately, Watson’s progression took a hit in 2023, with injuries limiting him to just nine games.
Last year, Watson started 15 games, posting a career-high 620 yards. However, in the second quarter of the season finale against the Chicago Bears, Watson went down with a knee injury, later labeled as a torn ACL. On Thursday, the NDSU product posted on his Instagram account, and he was moving on a treadmill just two months after his season-ending injury.

Last season, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson suffered a torn ACL in the team’s regular-season finale against the Chicago Bears. Watson finished the game with just one target in one-quarter of play. The 25-year-old also missed the week prior with an injury and finished the season with no catches during the team’s final three regular season games.
On Thursday, Watson took to his Instagram, sharing a video of him walking on a treadmill as he continues his rehab from a torn ACL. The typical time for an NFL player to return from a torn ACL approaches a full calendar year, putting Watson’s status for the 2025 season in jeopardy. However, Watson’s progression is a good sign of his ability to suit up for the Packers next year.
Christian Watson Eyeing Breakout Campaign
A former second-round pick, Green Bay Packers Christian Watson has had an up-and-down NFL career. As a rookie in 2022, Watson recorded 611 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, finishing seventh in AP Offensive Rookie of the Year voting. In 2023, Watson’s hamstring issue derailed his season, collecting just 28 catches for 422 yards and five scores in nine games.
Although injuries again affected Watson in 2024, he posted a career-high 21.4 yards per reception with second-year starting quarterback Jordan Love. Watson will look to build on his 2024 season next year as he recovers from a torn ACL suffered in January.
