From 2018 to 2021, the Green Bay Packers had one of the best passing connections with quarterback Aaron Rodgers and wide receiver Davante Adams. During that span, Adams earned four Pro Bowl nods and recorded 432 receptions for 5,310 yards and 47 touchdowns. However, leading into the summer of 2022 and following the placement of the franchise tag, Green Bay shipped Adams off to the Las Vegas Raiders, where he spent the better part of two seasons before becoming a member of the New York Jets. On Tuesday, the Jets released Adams, sending him into free agency while shedding $29.9M in salary cap.
Shortly following his release, Green Bay Packers fans flooded social media demanding the return of Adams to the NFC North franchise. Since his departure in 2021, the Packers have not housed a 1,000-yard receiver or a Pro Bowl pass catcher.
Green Bay Packers Fans Hoping For Davante Adams Return

According to Adam Schefter on ESPN:
The Jets will save $29.9M in salary cap space by releasing Davante Adams. He had no guaranteed money remaining on his contract.
Shortly after reports emerged that the New York Jets were looking for a trade partner for Davante Adams, the struggling franchise released him. Last season, the Jets acquired Adams via trade with the Las Vegas Raiders. In 11 games, he had 67 receptions for 854 yards and seven touchdowns. However, New York went just 3-8 in games Adams played, missing the postseason for the 14th straight year.
The Green Bay Packers immediately became a favorite landing spot among pundits and fans with the release. Adams was a first-team All-Pro with Green Bay from 2020 to 2021. On the open market, Packers fans bombarded Twitter with the hype surrounding Adams’ potential return to Green Bay.

Davante Adams Looking At Third Team in Two Seasons

It has been a rollercoaster ride for Davante Adams since departing from the Green Bay Packers in 2021. In 2022, Adams earned his third straight first-time All-Pro while leading the league with 14 receiving touchdowns. However, his numbers dipped in 2023 despite appearing in 17 games, ending his streak of six straight Pro Bowl seasons. Last year, amid a horrid start by the Raiders, the AFC franchise traded Adams to the New York Jets, reuniting him with his former Green Bay quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. New York released Rodgers and Adams this offseason.
