The Green Bay Packers are shopping veteran cornerback Jaire Alexander, and there might be a franchise uniquely positioned to land the 28-year-old Pro Bowler.
It remains to be seen what Alexander’s value will be, coming off an injury-riddled 2024 campaign. However, if Alexander can prove that he’s fully healthy, he has the skill set to significantly elevate a secondary.

CBS Sports put together a list of potential landing spots for Alexander this offseason, with the Pittsburgh Steelers near the top of the list.
“The Packers and Steelers just struck a deal for Preston Smith during the 2024 season,” Cody Benjamin points out for CBS. “And they have reason to reconnect here. Pittsburgh has young standout Joey Porter Jr. at corner but could still use a proven counterpart, and with more than $60 million in projected salary cap space, money wouldn’t necessarily be an issue. Alexander’s feisty play style would fit right into the Steelers’ culture.”

Alexander, 5-foot-10 and 196 pounds, would be an ideal complement opposite Porter and a strong veteran presence in a young Steelers secondary.
Last season, Alexander intercepted two passes, returning one for a touchdown, while posting 16 total tackles in seven games, before suffering a knee injury that ultimately required season-ending surgery.
Both Green Bay and Alexander could benefit from a change of scenery, and the Steelers would give the veteran playmaker the chance to land with a defense capable of contending for the next several seasons.
