The Packers’ bye week is usually a time for the team to rest and recharge, but the Packers universe never really sleeps, does it? Between front office moves, player news, and the never-ending churn of the NFL machine, there’s always something to talk about.
Murphy’s Parting Gift? A Quarter Million to UWGB Athletics
So, Mark Murphy’s on his way out, finally hanging up his hat after years at the helm. What’s he doing on his way out the door? Dropping a cool $250,000 on the UW-Green Bay athletic department.
Sure, it’s a nice gesture, and yeah, it kicks off some fundraising drive, but let’s be real, it’s probably a tax write-off for the organization. Still, I guess we can’t fault the guy for trying to leave a legacy, even if it’s got “Packers PR move” written all over it.
Then again, Rob Demovsky makes a great case on the long relationship between UWGB Athletics and the Packers:
The Packers involvement with @uwgb goes back a long way — Vince Lombardi helped them hire their first basketball coach, the late Dave Buss — but this takes it to another level. pic.twitter.com/yzXzPkA2Sq

Now, UWGB Athletic Director Josh Moon gets to call himself the “Mark Murphy Director of Athletics.” Bit of a mouthful, isn’t it? Wonder if that title comes with a pay raise.
Speaking of the Bears…
Yeah, that’s right, the freakin’ Bears are next up on the schedule. After that embarrassing loss to the Lions, we need a win – and we need it bad. But with the way this team’s been playing, and how these divisional games are, it could go either way.
This is Love’s chance to come off the bye and back up that salary. The Bears in their current state are low-hanging fruit, even in Soldier Field. Now is the time for him to shine like the first time the Jets played the Patriots under Rodgers. Except, you know, keep shining after that. Otherwise, we’re looking at another disappointing season.
Need a Job? Lambeau’s Hiring
If watching this team play makes you want to tear your hair out, maybe you should apply for a job at Lambeau Field. They’re having a job fair on November 14th, looking for folks to fill those guest services and security roles. Hey, at least you’ll get paid to be there, and like Diddy on a Friday night, you can witness the magic from the inside.
On a serious note, if you’re looking for work, it’s not a bad gig. Just be prepared to deal with some frustrated fans.
Rodgers to the Rescue of… Mike McCarthy?
Just when you thought things couldn’t get any weirder, Aaron Rodgers pops up defending Mike McCarthy. Apparently, our former quarterback-turned-Jets-savior thinks McCarthy is “built for adversity.” This, coming from the guy who supposedly couldn’t wait to get away from McCarthy’s “stale” offense.
Look, I get it, Rodgers is trying to be the bigger man here and show some grace. But let’s not forget the tension that existed between those two. Maybe Rodgers is just trying to stir the pot. Or maybe he’s feeling a little nostalgic for the good old days in Green Bay. Either way, it’s just another bizarre chapter in the ongoing saga of the Green Bay Packers.
