Preston Smith Shipped to Pittsburgh – What Does it Mean for the Pack?
Whew, what a week it’s been, Packer fans. I don’t know about you, but I’m still processing the news that dropped earlier this week. Preston Smith, a guy who’s been a staple on our defense for years, got traded to the Steelers.
I’ll be honest, the news hit me hard. I’ve watched him grow as a player, become a leader in the locker room, and always bring that infectious energy to the field. Seeing him go, especially to a team like the Steelers (ugh!), felt like a punch to the gut.
But as the initial shock wore off, I started thinking about what this means for the Packers. Gutey clearly sees something in our young guys, and maybe this is the shakeup we need to jumpstart this defense. It’s definitely a signal that we’re looking towards the future, and that can be both exciting and a little scary.
According to Preston Smith himself, he requested to be traded:
Quiet Trade Deadline: Gutekunst Stays the Course
The rest of the trade deadline came and went with barely a whisper. Part of me was waiting for another shoe to drop, maybe another veteran getting moved, or a surprise trade to bring in some help for the offense. But that’s not Gutey’s style, is it? He’s always been one to build through the draft, and he’s shown incredible patience with this young team.
I think there’s something to be said for that. It would have been easy to panic after a couple of tough losses and make some impulsive moves. But Gutey seems to have a clear vision for this team, and he’s sticking to it. He’s betting on the young core, and frankly, I’m here for it.
Lloyd Nears Return: A Boost for the Run Game?
Then there’s the news we’ve all been waiting for – MarShawn Lloyd is nearing a return! That running game has been struggling, and getting a healthy Lloyd back there will be a major boost. I can’t wait to see what he can do.
It’s been an emotional rollercoaster these past few days. There’s a sense of uncertainty hanging in the air, but I’m choosing to stay optimistic. This team has a lot of potential, and I believe in our young guys. Go Pack Go!
Are you KIDDING me?! Gutekunst is officially clueless. First, he practically GIVES AWAY Preston Smith for peanuts, a guy who was a CONSISTENT force on our defense. Then, he sits on his hands at the trade deadline while the rest of the NFC loads up?! This team is going NOWHERE with this kind of ‘leadership’. We’re stuck with Love, who’s shown NOTHING, and this is how Gutekunst builds around him? Unbelievable. Fire Gutekunst
