Round 2, #45: LB Edgerrin Cooper
With two picks in round 2, the Green Bay Packers has focused again on defensive positions. With pick #45, obtained from New Orleans after trading pick #41, they have chosen linebacker Edgerrin Cooper from Texas A&M
Round 2, Pick #58: Javon Bullard, UGA
Packers continued their storied tradition of drafting safeties by including Javon Bullard of UGA as their #58 pick in round 2. A real physical player at the position, in the SEC no less, Bullard is sure to be future fan favorite if he adapts to the NFL environment.
Round 3, Pick #88: RB MarShawn Lloyd
In the third round, they chose running back MarShawn Lloyd from USC.
In a LB weak draft class, the Packers got the best one and picked up an extra 5th and 6th round pick. While Javon Bullard is the kind of safety Jeff Hafley coverts. A position of weakness at safety is now a strength. A 17 game season is a grind. You need two RB’s. When the start of a run on RB’s began in round three, Gutekunst jumped right in and got one of the best in Lloyd. While Hooper will be a core ST player and a situational pass rusher to start. It’s shaping up to be another solid draft for Gutekunst. He’s proven to know what he’s doing….
