Green Bay Packers
- Season Record: 3-2
- Offensive Strategy: Primarily a passing team, but struggling recently.
- Defensive Strategy: Weak against the run, giving up an average of 143.4 yards per game.
Key Players
- Jordan Love, QB: Started the season strong but has recently thrown five interceptions in the last two games.
- Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon, RBs: These two have the potential to revive the Packers’ running game, which is currently ranked 27th in the league.
What to Watch
- Jordan Love’s performance will be under scrutiny. Can he bounce back from his recent slump?
- The running game: Will the bye week have given Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon the rest they needed to perform better?
Denver Broncos
- Season Record: 1-5
- Offensive Strategy: Struggling in both passing and running.
- Defensive Strategy: Last in the NFL against the run, allowing 172.3 yards per game.
Key Players
- Russell Wilson, QB: Despite the team’s poor record, Wilson has 12 touchdown passes this season.
- Jaleel McLaughlin and Javonte Williams, RBs: McLaughlin has been a pleasant surprise, averaging 6.6 yards per carry in limited action.
What to Watch
- Russell Wilson’s decision-making has been questionable. Will he step up his game?
- The running backs: Can McLaughlin and Williams exploit Green Bay’s weak run defense?
Packers vs Broncos: Game Info
- Date: Sunday, October 22, 2023
- Kickoff Time: 4:25 p.m. ET
- Venue: Empower Field at Mile High, Denver, Colorado
- TV Channel: CBS will be broadcasting the game.
Key Matchups and Strategies
- Green Bay’s Running Game vs. Denver’s Run Defense: Given Denver’s poor run defense, this is an opportunity for Green Bay to focus on their ground game. Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon could be the game-changers here.
- Denver’s Passing Game vs. Green Bay’s Secondary: Russell Wilson has the arm and the experience. If he can make better decisions, he could exploit Green Bay’s defense.
- Coaching Decisions: Both coaches have a lot at stake. Matt LaFleur of the Packers and Sean Payton of the Broncos need to make smart calls to turn their seasons around.
Tactical Insights
- Green Bay: Utilize short passes to build Jordan Love’s confidence early in the game. Then, gradually introduce the running game to exploit Denver’s weak run defense.
- Denver: Russell Wilson should aim for quick, safe passes to build momentum. The running game should also be a focus, given Green Bay’s struggles against the run.
This game is more than just another Sunday matchup; it’s a potential season-defining moment for both teams. The quarterbacks, in particular, have a lot to prove. The team that can best exploit the other’s weaknesses will likely emerge victorious, setting the tone for the rest of their season.

After a long bye week still nine players listed as questionable. Sheesh.
Well F me Melanie Collins.
Tactical Insights
Green Bay: Utilize short passes to build Jordan Love’s confidence early in the game.
Spot on so far at halftime.
Love’s average air yards must be hovering around the 2 mark.
They might have rethought the idea of Love throwing downfield so much. Maybe not a bad idea again good defensive fronts, but against Denver imo, let it fly.
Nothing to lose.
Twenty four total yards of offense in the first quarter. Eighty six total yards of offense in the first half. This is totally unacceptable. Kevin may need “several more seasons” to make a determination. But midterms are in and Love is failing. Even if he plays lights out in the second half. You can’t play football in the NFL like this. Time to start scouting college QB’s.
You tell em Flip Flop!! 👍
” You can’t play football in the NFL like this. Time to start scouting college QB’s.” – Flip Flop
Isn’t that what they did in 2019 with Love?
You want to go through all this….again?
Funny how Flip Flop tauts Love as our next franchise QB for 3 years.
Funny how Flip Flop was telling us how much better Love is than Rodgers for 3 years.
Funny how great Flip Flop thought Love was proven, after that 4th quarter Eagle game.
Funny how Flip Flop told us ladies how Love would beat out Rodgers and thus, send Rodgers to the bench.
Funny………after suffering and listening to Flip Flops 3 year love affair with Jordan Love, NOW, we find Flip Flop writing…….
“Even if he plays lights out in the second half. You can’t play football in the NFL like this. Time to start scouting college QB’s.” – Flip Flop
BRILLIANT 👍
Just curious Flip Flop…was scouting for a new QB in 2023…..
Part of “Gutes plan?
Bwahahahahahahaha 🤣
Well…no matter how you slice it, one word says it the best, just like the first time i wrote it in here years and years ago.
BROKEN
Coaches should be losing jobs after a game like this. You just lost to one of the worst football teams in the NFL after a bye week.
The Packers are a bad football team all around. It won’t happen but it should.
Your Spot ON, MLF should be FIRED Today !!!! There’s NO hope for 32nd ranked team in NFL under him, almost month off and can’t beat what was worst team in league, “Well” thats us now
You are correct Arch, it won’t happen. This is the Green Bay Packers. If you are in the circle of goodness you have protection and loyalty. Mark Murphy has not a thing to worry about as his job is safe until the day of mandatory retirement. As long as Mark Murphy is still safe, Brian Gutekunst is still safe, hence Matt is safe and even Matt’s subordinates are safe, as much as some deserve not to be.
–
This is the team that lovingly kept Ted Thompson on the payroll large when we all knew he was destined for assisted living. Green Bay is very good hearted, to the right people. So what you are seeing now is what you will likely be seeing for a while. That’s just the way it is at 1265.
–
The things that are currently needed to correct this franchise are things which were needed when Ron Wolf came on board. Giving a football minded GM total control of football related matters. But that changed a little while back. We all remember the talking points about silos and whatnot. This place is screwed up.
–
Yeah, does anyone really, really think that GB could land a great GM candidate, head coach, or assistant coaching candidate under the current management span of control? Cause I don’t. Oh yeah, I mean there are folks out there for jobs but really the top flight people? This is a system set up for the less than optimal with long term job security.
–
Like so many have mentioned, this team was close a couple three years ago. Really close with only a couple key needs. This GM decided to try to go two routes at the same time and both failed. But they’ll give him a couple more years on this experiment.
–
Yeah I know, I don’t want to overreact and sound all doom and gloom. But holy cow, this looked awful today. Awful after a BYE! Some might say this could have been a win had Carlson connected on that first FG (which he didn’t miss by much). Yeah, whatever. They were gifted a touchdown that was actually an interception and the other touchdown was a miracle tip drill. Actually I’m surprised it was so close at the end.
This is not a good football team. To go into halftime scoreless against the Broncos, one of the worst teams in the league who gave up 70 points to Miami, after GB just had a bye week… completely unacceptable.
I’m still waiting to this franchise quarteback who was breathing down Rodgers neck to start showing us how Matt LaFleurs offense is supposed to be ran.
Some ‘stupid’ yahoo down the hall wrote this……

Can the Murphy/Gute experiment be over soon?
Can we stop pretending that Murphy should be “the final say” in football operations?
How does a guy change the bylaws, taking away the GM’s power, put himself in charge, but he had no prior football operation experience?
Someone riddle me that?

Hopefully we get a new acting President who understands the value in giving the GM the power to run the team.
Wolf, and Thompson had full power, what did they do?
They built two Championship rosters that won two Super Bowls.
Let’s fix the damage that’s been done before we find this team like the 70’s and 80’s.
******************************************************
Or, we could just blame it on Rodgers 😆
What say you Princess?
We know Tommi, we know…..
Gute has a plan !! 🥱
yea, stay CHEAP, draft projects & Bums, keep Incompetent HC & GM (himself)
Sean Clifford could be Brock Purdy. Time to find out. Tyson Bagent looked 100x better than Love too. At least Love is only under contract through 2024. When does Tom say…”You guys were right, Jordan Love does suck”. Waiting.
I couldn’t understand why they didn’t put Clifford in either. He couldn’t possibly be any worse than love
You get average QB play. Not great, just average, consistent QB play and this team is 5-1. So, of course all you no nothings want to gut the roster and start over. This is a QB issue. Fix the QB, fix the problem. Jordan Love has the remainder of the season to change the hearts and minds of management. Otherwise we draft a QB. Fortunately the Bears won yesterday. Teams will be jockeying to get into position to draft a QB. The way things are going, we’ll be one of them….

The big picture here is Jordan Love. We’re now two games into the Jordan Love area and he’s thrown for 400 yards, 6 touchdowns and no picks. Justin Fields, Trey Lance, and Zach Wilson, all top ten picks who are tittering on being busts, would give their left nut to start the season with such numbers. Cool your jets Packer fans, we’re fine…

Yes Kitty, we all acknowledged Love is doing well.
Lets see how it plays out before you put him in Canton, or you…
Compare him to franchise QB Justin Fields and other flops in the NFL..
You remember Fields right?
When you proclaimed him a franchise QB.

What I’m saying Cheese is Jordan Love sees the field, can read a defense, throws the ball with anticipation, and knows his offense. Justin Fields can’t do any of that.
If this team stays relatively healthy, you’re looking at 7 to 10 wins.
This is all consistent with the growth of a young, talented QB.

You and everyone’s mother wanted a WR instead of Jordan Love. The only problem, the WR’s available turned out to be crap. It was absolutely the right call to draft Jordan Love.

Still angry you mom named you Ferris, I see. I would be to. You’re in luck my friend. You’re back just in time to hear Kevin, Cheese, MMSUCKS, Arch, and the rest of the girls sing the praises of Jordan Love and the man that drafted him, Brian Gutekunst. Happy times for all….

That’s the type of game where legends are made.
Love overcame adversity and got it done. Just like the great ones.
***************
Yea Tommi….Just like the great ones!!
Now 4 weeks later you want to tank the season and do this all over again, and draft our NEXT franchise QB.
What should we do with Love, offer him up at a garage sale?
Princess….i thought that …Gute had a plan….what happened?
The problems with this team go way beyond QB play. Yes, Jordan Love kind of sucks right now. Some are surprised he looks so bad, some are not. Count me as one of them that is not surprised. I saw nothing from his college play and NFL play prior to this season that said this guy is a franchise QB that would justify trading up in the first round to draft him.
The biggest problem with the offense is letting the talent level drop to it’s current state by never drafting needed improvements in the first round. Gute finally spent some draft capital on ball catchers in the first few rounds the last 2 years but are they difference makers. We don’t know at this point because all of Gutes picks need 3 years to develop. Not a good combination when you have a QB being the starter for the first time with 1st and 2nd year receivers.
There is no excuse for the piss poor defense at this point. You have 8 first round picks on the defense and this is the best you can do. This defense should be a top 5 defense if the players are really any good. And I don’t want to here they only gave up 19 points in this game so it wasn’t that bad. They were playing the Broncos for God’s sake. An average defense would have held them to no more than 10 points.
The biggest problem with the Packers at this point is coaching and management. The current coaching staff couldn’t coach their way out of a wet paper bag and management can’t draft a player that doesn’t have to sit on the bench for three years before he’s ready to play.
Do you really want MLF and Gute to be fired and have Murphy picking their replacements. Talk about a disaster waiting to happen. The only thing that will happen at the end of the season is an assistant coach or coordinator might be fired to at least make it seem like someone is being held accountable.
MLF and Gute got extensions not that long ago, they are going nowhere until Murphy retires, but that may not even happen, if…..
They hire an acting President from within
Good post Arch, and hell, I would even argue 3rd round picks (although we know those have been a trainwreck for the team going back well before Gutes time, for whatever reason. The last good one they had that I remember was Morgan Burnett maybe? But for the sake of hashing this out…., since selecting Derek Sherrod in the 1st round in 2011, the Packers in the top three rounds have taken four OL. Spriggs (LOL), Jenkins, Myers (over Creed Humphrey which was always LOL from the moment the pick was made, and Rhyan, which can’t get on the field despite the poor OL play. After taking Davante Adams in the 2nd in 2014, till 2022, they took two WR in the top three rounds (Ty Montgomery and Amari Rodgers, both shortish slot guys that were never outside WRs). This is not a good process. Especially given the failures of the defense. They got lucky on guys selected after the 3rd round like Bahk, Linsley, and MVS, which you obviously have to hit on some of those late picks as well. But that is very few swings of the bat at guys on the LOS, and at the skill position. I don’t even want to talk about TE because it will make me want to drink methylated alcohol
Does Patrick Mahomes make this offense good? I am sure he would be better than Love, but I don’t think he moves the needle a bunch when you have a bottom 10 offensive line and inexperienced WR. It’s not an environment for a QB to thrive in. An elite QB will elevate the play of those around him, but I question what the ceiling of this offense would even be if they had a Mahomes, Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, Herbert
Packers are on the Clock. Better draft QB oh wait it Fat Boy Gutty, we’ll select OL from Austin Peay
Waiting moderation again?
For what JP?
For what exactly….not cursing?
How about making an appearance JP and telling us where we are going wrong here.
Would that entail a scolding speech about ‘picking on Tommi’?
Sorry JP, Men ‘OWN’ what they say or they might get called out.
“Which begs the question, who is Brian Gutekunst’s best draft pick? Is it Gary, Jaire Alexander, Jordan Love, Christian Watson, Luke Musgrave, Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs? So many choices, so little time… – Princess

Well Scooter, lets take the time…..
I’m going to call it a tie between Christian Watson and Jordan Love.
What say you Sparky?

“Arch, you, Kevin and the rest of the ladies told us we would return to the 70’s and 80’s without your beloved Aaron Rodgers. How’s that looking after week one? You’ll understand then why I’m not buying your bold prediction that Chicago won’t be any good. Was Chicago really that bad or were the Packers really that good? It’s hard to say” – Princess

Drop dead.
The Packers have been outscored 63-6 in the first half of the last four games.
The last time that happened…..1988
1st & 31 and our defense gave it up, its every week. The Joe Barry kick return style D, play 20 yds off cross the board
Good thing Loves works with the new receivers in the off season, or this could start looking ugly.
So, Murphy is retiring July 13th, 2025.
When is the best time to start searching for his replacement so we can get this thing back to being right again.?
A) May 2025
B) April 2025
C) Don’t worry about it, put an ad on Craigslist in June of 2025.
D) Yesterday
Here’s what could go wrong.
They hire from within.
Whether it’s Ball, Ed Policy, or God forbid, Gute.
This team needs a fresh set of eyes, and a new voice, and most importantly, somebody who knows what they are doing concerning delegating authority to those experienced enough to handle it to do their job effectively.
No more training wheels allowed at 1265.
If you don’t trust your new hire enough to give them authority to do their job.
Well, maybe you hired the wrong person.
Maybe someone needed to watch over Murphy and put training wheels on him.
BROKEN
My guess is Murphy will have the board hire Ball. After all, He tried to make Ball the GM until McCarthy stepped in to stop it.
Murphy’s retirement comes into play big time. I’m thinking Murphy will let the next President decide how to fix this mess. If I understand correctly Gutekunst, LaFleur and the finance guy all report to him, so Murphy is likely do nothing in the next year except give it another run. He’s not going to clean house, name all new guys and then expect someone to want come in and manage someone else’s hires. Plus what good GM or coach would want to join a organization knowing you’ll have a new boss soon? Unfortunately you have to do something with Love’s contract which is probably going to be a cap killing $40 million a year deal, with very little up front, allowing you to cut him without hurting your future. I think we Packers fans will have to put with being the near worst team in the league for two years. Maybe you trade the high picks for future picks to attract good GMs and coaches.
You’re probably right. My only concern is how much input does Murphy have in hiring his replacement. Hopefully non.
I’m not saying it’s impossible, but i highly doubt Love will ever get a 40 million/year contract.
The Packers themselves didn’t even want to give Love the 5th year money of 20.7 million.
Instead, having him sign for 13.5 million for 2024. His 5th year..
C
Not one of you football savants ever predicted Aaron Rodgers would take the Jets to the SB. Why? Because you all knew he couldn’t. It was time to move on. If Jordan Love can’t turn this around by the end of the season, it will likewise be time to move on. Both had their chance. I’d rather take it on the chin for the remainder of the season and secure a top 5 pick and get my next QB than double down on Jordan Love if he’s not the answer. This team needs another RB, a safety, and perhaps a QB. You can win with this defense. We need consistency at QB. My biggest fear is Jordan Love will show just enough to think he could be the answer and keep management from drafting a QB. He’s going to have to play lights out to convince me otherwise.
Didn’t you watch the 4th quarter of the Eagles game?
You better get on board, Nancy.
Gute has a plan!!

Jordan Love, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs. The next Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson, Greg Jennings. Nothing wrong with that. Once Jordan Love has some success, you’ll shameless man whore up to him and say you never doubted him.
No Tommi, nothing wrong with that…lol
Now…which one of your books of Fairy Tales did that come from?
