This Thursday night Lambeau letdown left Green and Gold fans frustrated and the Packers now sit at 4-7 for the 2022 season. Just a few days after watching Aaron Rodgers make crisp passes at critical junctions in Sundays come from behind victory, the wheels fell off the passing offense and defense of the Packers. Ryan Tannehill threw 27 passes and completed all but five of them. Even with an interception, he out performed Aaron Rodgers who lapsed back to earlier season games, seeming to miss receivers on critical downs to end drives. The defense did have a couple of highlights. Rasul Douglass’ interception.
A nice sack by Preston Smith. Stuffing Derrick Henry for no gain on fourth and one. Heck, they held Henry under 90 yards and a 3.1 average with a long run of nine yards. Those are usually games winning numbers against Tennessee because you have forced Tannehill to beat you with his arm. Unfortunately, the safeties and corners mostly played a soft zone that looked like it was drawn up by a Matador. This game the Packer secondary gave up more than just crossing patterns. Short curls and outs were open all night and Tannehill found his receivers for short, medium and long throws, placing the ball accurately again and again.
The Titan first drive of the game set the tone. The Packer’s defense is missing the pass rush skills of Rashan Gary. Their attempts to counter that loss by sending Darnell Savage and other safeties on blitzes continues to fail. The long screen pass to Henry showed just how badly the blitz option hurt the Packers. Green Bay’s soft zone was sometimes so soft Alexander made initial contact and tackles AFTER a first down. The Titans never changed their plan of attack, and the Packers never solved the Titan puzzle. The Titans even executed trick plays to perfection. And when the Titans got close to the goal line, Alexander and others seemed to be making business decisions not to commit to tackling Henry.
The game ended as it started, as the Packers’ Alexander was beaten in one on one coverage by rookie Treylon Burks, the number 18 pick in the 2022 draft. Burks ended his night with seven catches on eight targets for 111 yards. In all the Titans had 337 passing yards. Total yards: 408. First downs: 21 . They left Lambeau with a five minute advantage in time of possession.
The Packers ended with 56 rushing yards on 19 carries for a 2.9 yard average. The Titans linebackers were aggressively attacking the run. The difference in reaction time and penetration when comparing the Titans linebackers to the Packers really stood out. And yet, it was the failed passing defense that really gave the Titans their points.
But even with all the good things the Titans did to win this game, the Packers were within three at 20-17 with two minutes left in the third quarter. The Titans responded with a swagger inducing touchdown drive but the Packers had the ball four more times. Three and out. Three and out. Four and out. And finally, stuffed on 4th and one after 10 plays. As glorious as Sunday’s fourth quarter/overtime thrill of victory was, this fourth quarter was the agony of defeat. Green Bay needs to go back to the drawing board and regroup. They have the Eagles at Philadelphia in 9 days. Until then, happy Thanksgiving everyone.
Lets re-sign LaFluer & Joe Barry in a hurry. Can’t afford to let those poindexters go
I think Murphy should hurry up and give Gute a 5 year extension or something before another team swoops in and steals him, What he does in the draft room alone, is masterful.
.
Did anyone else get that sideline shot of Jordan Love sitting on the bench, waiting his turn while picking his nose?
Hes another one shd be out the door!!! Nothing like Joe Barrys Def scheme. play 20 yds off every receiver & let every one run wide open. Barry single handedly made Tannyhill look like Joe Montana
This team has the wrong head coach and wrong defensive coordinator. And, for the way it is constructed, the wrong QB. Sometimes the truth hurts.
Sometimes they also have the wrong fans.
Sometimes the truth hurts.

Welcome new guy!
How our last 3 GM’s fared in their first 6 years at the helm…..
Ron Wolf…..6 years….SB winner
Ted Thompson…..6 years…SB winner
Brian Gutekunst….5 years…right on pace 😮
Wolf shoud have had 2. Holmgren blew SB 32, he had one foot out the door & wanted control of everything.
Well ladies, little Erin wasn’t “throwing dimes” last night. WTF was that throw to Sammy Watkins on 3 and 12 in the 4th? And it was hardly the only one he missed badly on. Can’t blame the WR’s when they’re that wide open. Rodgers has emerging playmakers in Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs at WR. A solidified OL with Bakhtiari and Jenkins. And a healthy and potent running game in Jones and Dillion. Yet 17 points a game is all Erin can muster? It’s time to move on girls. I don’t know how much more you need to see. About two more games should do it….

Tommi must have been watching the game 2 years ago in Green Bay when the run game was solid on a sheet of snow and Rodgers and Adams picked apart the Titans defense to the tune of 40-14.
Adams had 142 yards and 3 TD’s
Quadzilla also rushed for 124 yards and 2 TD’s
A.J.’s only 100 yard rushing game in his NFL career.
.
I doubt Tommi has Amazon Prime to have watched last nights game.
Plus i think he would need internet for that.
.
This is what happened last night Scooter.
A. Jones…..12 carries, 40 yards…3.3 YPC
Quadzilla…..6 carries, 13 yards…2.2 YPC
.
Or what you call…a potent run game.
It’s very simple Kevin. You load the box, shut down the run game, make Rodgers beat you with his arm. He can’t. That’s what the Titans did last night and that’s how you beat the Packers. The only Aaron opponents fear is Jones not Rodgers. Not at 39. Not anymore. That’s the reality you fanboys are going to have to come to terms with. The national media, who has no dog in the fight one way or the other, and are to a man, saying Aaron Rodgers is done. While you fanboys continue to be creative on who you can blame other than the man himself.
Bingo!
Well….why didn’t you just say so Tommi…..
I didn’t know you were an expert at beating the Packers, i would think the Cowboys would have payed you a pretty good sum for information like that.
.
Now, can you tell us about this elite top 5 defense you keep telling us about that we saw last night?
How come all off season, all we read about is an elite top 5 defense ad nauseam?
Then once the season is underway….crickets.
Kind of like crowning draft picks before they even play their first game.
.
Well, to be fair….i suppose even stupid people, enjoy free speech.
Spot on!
None of us expected, this season, to have teams dare us to throw. How far we have fallen. Nor, did we expect to have the opposing QB out play our over paid non clutch QB. Let us take a harsh (no green and gold glasses allowed) look at our team. We have one of the worst defensive coordinators in the league, one of the worst special teams, we are in cap hell due to #12. On top of all that, we have one of the poorer head coaches in the league.
He looks lost on the sidelines, ready to cry and never confronts Rodgers on anything.
Lefleur’s great first three year record was a product of us playing 12 games against the Bears and Lions. 75% of the other teams we beat had losing records at the time we played them. Very phony 33-10 record!!
Indianapolis realized it had the wrong head coach and we should also come to realize that!!
Carl “The New Guy” Keehn
“……we are in cap hell due to #12”
.
Hmmm….are we in cap hell because the team gave out 182 million in contracts in 10 days? Are we in cap hell for pushing that money down the road…twice? Are we in cap hell because Bakhtiari counts 29 million against the cap next season?
.
Are we in cap hell because of #12, or because the Bank of the Green Bay Packers offered him that money?
.
Critical thinking matters.

Why is it, all the new guys seem like they’ve been in here for years….lol
Kevin, it’s neither the defense, AJ Dillion, or anyone else’s fault that Aaron Rodgers can no longer hit the broad side of a barn. Let alone “drop dimes.” Before any of this gets better you have to identify the problem. The elephant in the room is Aaron Rodgers. He now plays to his age and this isn’t getting better. This day was always going to happen. We just didn’t know when. It happened to Favre, to Brees, to Big Ben, to Matt Ryan, it’s even finally happening to Tom Brady. The end comes to everyone in the NFL. It’s why you draft Jordan Love so you’re prepared when it does happen. It took Justin Fields a season and a half but now looks like a legitimate NFL QB. It’s time to give Jordan Love his shot. If he can grow and develop with Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs, the sky’s the limit. But we have to break away from the past and not fear the future. I understand it’s difficult to come to terms that our heroes are mortal. Reality can be a bitch.

The Cowboys Kevin, couldn’t stop the run. The Titans could and did. That was the difference in the game. It’s not rocket science. Nobody is scared of Aaron Rodgers anymore. Rodgers starts the game in Philadelphia next week and we lose. But the real question is who do you start in Chicago? The Bears finally have a young, talented, franchise QB with a team on the rise. They hate Aaron Rodgers and they smell blood. Bears fans want nothing more than to take Aaron Rodgers “I own you” comments and shove them right down his throat. Do you really want to subject your hero to that kind of humiliation in what would probably be his last game at Soldier Field? I don’t even like the guy and I don’t want that. I don’t give the Bears the satisfaction of beating Aaron Rodgers. After the loss to Philadelphia I put Rodgers on IR with the mythical thumb injury to save face. Then ride it out with Jordan Love to see what’s there. It’s going to happen. It’s whether or not it’s before or after the Bears game. It should be before.
Our QB is a poor leader and shrinks when the team is behind and needs him…….
That’s what i’m saying new guy, Justin Fields isn’t a good QB.
.
And someone would have to drunk and drugged out of their mind to refer to him as a franchise QB.
Or just…..really stupid.
Justin Field…Franchise QB?
.
Career Completion percentage = 58.9%
TD’s 19…Interceptions 17
Career passer rating…78.9
.
Whoever thinks this is a franchise QB, please….go sit in a corner for a month or 12, and shut your dumb ass mouth.

The Cowboys Kevin, couldn’t stop the run. The Titans could and did.
.
Just curious Tommi…did you figure that out all by yourself? 😮
Couldn’t have said it better myself Carl. Erin is no leader and Kevin can’t evaluate QB talent. See his glowing reports on Tim Boyle and Kurt Benkert both unemployed. He also said Jordy could still play even though no other team wanted him. He has no clue what he’s talking about. Mike is another simpleton. Holmgren didn’t blow the SB. Terrell Davis ran all over the defense. He was the difference.
Tommi, he was talking about Justin Fields, Carl’s a bear fan.

Tommi…A little less time on Rodgers, and a couple minutes on Tim Boyle, could have spared you some (more) embarrassment.

Nobody is scared of Aaron Rodgers anymore, except of course McRib and the Cowboys. Or any other team he’s ripped apart in his career.

In Tommi’s defense, he’s been hitting a lot of “grandma’s medicine”.
The DB’s did play soft. I understand wanting to play pass defense with your face to the line with Henry in the backfield. You start playing to much press man and you can have your back to the run. I guess I could insert several jokes about certain Packer DBs ability to turn their backs to the ball carrier when not in man to avoid contact. You have seen it all year with Savage. You are starting to see it with Alexander more and more.
The problem I had with the soft coverage is the officiating crew was known to hold their flags. Rodgers said such after the game. You could see the Titans got away with some defensive holds, pass interference, and offensive holding penalties. I’m sure the Packers did also, well at least the offensive part. You had to be close to a receiver to get defensive holding or pass interference calls, and the Packers avoided that. I’m all for letting the players decide the game within reason. The question is why didn’t the Packers coaches and DBs try harder to rough up the Titans receivers in their routes. You can still be aggressive/chuck/adjust routes as DBs and face the line early in a route. Once your keys show a pass, turn and still be aggressive.
It is poor coaching and game planning to not try and incorporate the officiating crews tendencies into your game plan, or adjust your approach once you see a tendency to allow contact. It is like not trying to take advantage of injured players or their replacements during a game.
Good analysis, Howard. I don’t want to get too deep into it like you did, but what was the rationale for hiring Joe Barry in the first place?
Even with some talented players on his roster, it seems like he is often guilty of poor coaching and poor planning for the games.
Also, people having short memories and not learning from history, anybody that was associated with the 2008 Detroit Lions should have never been given a job again in the NFL
