The Packers’ roughest season in decades continues on with the Pack traveling to Hell on Earth, Lincoln Financial Field.
Aaron Rodgers Has Been Playing With an Injured Thumb
It was revealed recently that Rodgers was injured on October 9th during a loss to the New York Giants. He is still expected to start tonight against the Eagles.
Ian Rapoport via NFL.com quoted Rodgers on the injury:
I think I’ve had worse injuries I’ve played with. There would be a couple plays every game, maybe a snap slightly inside or a hit that might jolt it a little bit. Just dealing with the occasional kind of dull pain and working through it.

Not a good start for this draft pick.

Packers vs Eagles – Injury Report

Given the timing of the news of the exact nature of the fracture today, who wants to bet this was done on purpose to set the Rodgers to IR move in motion after they lose tonight and are essentially eliminated from the postseason?
I dunno Kato, the exact nature of injuries, and the reporting thereof, is the responsibility of the team to make to the league. For as much as some would like to blame Rodgers for not being honest about the injury, well… I’m sure the Packers knew what the injury was and when it was received. Not like individual players need to go public and get blabby about whatever affliction they may befall.

So, as I watch the game I see Rodgers gone off with an injury and Jordan Love looked good. Good for him, good for the Packers.
–
Now the defense. Oh holy shit have they looked so bad, especially against the run. Maybe today’s news of the Badgers hiring Luke Fickell might get them to ring Jim Leonhard again and see if he might still be interested as a defensive coordinator, like tomorrow. Hey Jim, not like you would need to sell your house and move across the country… Wanna give it a try? Cause Joe Barry blows.
–
I didn’t expect a win in this game but despite all the warts they hung with them in a high scoring game. If the defense could have made some stops (40 points/500 yards) for crissakes.
–
Wanna know how perversely bad of a person I am? In that first defensive series they announced a Packer was down with an injury and I yelled at the TV, “Please, let it be Savage.”
Mitch….Thanks for the voice of reason regarding injuries and the factless “Master Plan” regarding Rodgers injuries, co-conspired by the Packers and Rodgers….lol.
I wonder if the Oblique injury was “pre-planned”…C’mon man….just stop already.
I don’t think there are any reasons to speculate on some conspiracies with no factual basis whatsoever.
Unless of course it’s how some people get their jollies.
But haters hate. Some people just enjoy making up fiction and just being miserable.
.
I can remember another Mensa member explaining to us how Rodgers was “oft injured” not too long ago.
Even though he’s only missed 1 game since 2018.
And injury had nothing to do with it.
.
But that’s the kind of people we get in here unfortunately.
There’s no gamethread yet, so I guess we have to comment here. It was nice to see the Packers keep pace with the Eagles until the third quarter. They’ve at least showed us the last few games they can play entertaining football this year. Ultimately, there’s too much dysfunction to overcome though and it’s not really a surprise that they lost to the eagles. I suppose that this final loss is the season ender that slowly followed the losing streak.
Rodgers left the game in the 4th quarter with an apparent rib injury. I’m not sure if they’ll place him on IR until the packers reach official playoff elimination.
The defensive trends of the season suggest a tough off-season will follow next year. Joe Barry joins the other Packers coordinators who can’t stop mobile QBs and can’t stop the run in general. He has no place on this team, and his coaching career never warranted a hiring decision. Yet he’s somehow on the team, most likely because he knows LaFleur who took the easy way out by hiring someone he knew from their coaching days with the Rams. The Packers are looking at another defensive rebuild at least if they ever want to get serious about not being dead last against the run. But I’m worried because Gutenkunst already selected Savage’s 5th year option. Savage is the type of non-impact guy the Packers should move on from. Do GMs really have an obsession with guys they drafted? The Packers traded Clinton-Dix, who actually had better career numbers but under performed, for a draft pick. Yet Gutenkunst wants to keep Savage. It just doesn’t make sense. They don’t money for free agency so they could end up even worse on defense next year, especially with Amos likely leaving.
Joe, the dysfunction that you speak of starts at the top of the organization. The board of directors should seriously consider firing Mark Murphy, but I’m sure that they won’t
Jordan love looked ok…against a prevent defense. Can’t knock him for it but I’d slow the hype train a little bit and see if he can do it against a real defensive game plan.
Very true. He was essentially playing mop up duty anyway

Funny….we don’t hear the word “Elite defense” brought up these days….hmmm….i guess it isn’t the off season anymore.
I guess the regular season has a natural way of deciphering bullshit from training camp and off season fantasyland.ramblings from the mentally challenged.
