The Green Bay Packers have begun the NFL season rather poorly especially as they were expected to be one of the top teams in the NFC. Defeat to mid-west rivals Minnesota Vikings set the tone in the opening fixture and form has not improved since.
A few victories came in the following weeks but did little to paper over the cracks as in October they lost to both New York teams before losing to the Washington Commanders and the Detroit Lions not long after.
The team looks painfully average on the field, with the defense giving up straightforward touchdowns, and offensively even Aaron Rodgers does not seem to be his typical self, perhaps lacking inspiration as a result of having minimal quality receivers at his disposal.

Green Bay have time to turn their fortunes around but Rodgers’ chances of a second Super Bowl ring seem to be quickly slipping away this season as there are little signs of the Packers finding a rhythm and improving their form once again. The Packers are now massive outsiders at +10000 to be NFL champions this season.
Sportsbetting is huge in the United States now with it being a tradition for many people to place a bet on the team they predict to go all of the way each year, this trend is certainly present in Ohio right now as multiple sports seasons begin. They can still fight to reach the playoffs, but they do not seem prepared to truly compete with the top teams in the NFL. Many people would argue this has been a long time coming due to issues with recruitment over the past few years. Aaron Rodgers almost decided to retire in 2021 as a result of his frustrations with the team at the board level.
Rodgers as the star man of the team and very much a leader wanted to have much more of an influence in decision-making off the pitch, specifically regarding the much-needed acquisitions of top-quality wide receivers. There was a compromise made as NFL wide receiver Randall Cobb joined last year and efforts were made to sign Odell Beckham Jr in the same off-season but they were ultimately unsuccessful and a player of Rodgers’ quality has not been sufficiently backed.
The quarterback has been far from his best this season but it’s possible that he is not fully motivated due to off-the-field issues. After all, how can a star player be expected to lead his team to Super Bowl victories if he is not aided by players of similar quality as per ProFootballTalk?

We have seen for many years in a row now Rodgers being in peak form and being one of the most impressive players in the league being let down by a lack of top-quality wide receivers. Perhaps he feels as if he is fighting a losing battle and that without key additions he cannot solely carry the team to glory. He has been loyal to the Packers for 17 years now and has certainly been short-changed in terms of his reward for doing so.
Rodgers vows to never quit anything he begins but this really could be his last season if the picture does not change quickly on and off the pitch at Green Bay.
