The Packers look to rebound from a 27-22 loss to the Giants last week with a home game versus the Jets, who are 3-2 and 2-0 on the road this season. This is the first meeting between the teams since 2018 when the Packers won 44-38 in overtime.
Overall, the Packers come into play 9th in total yards from scrimmage and 22nd in scoring. Defensively, they are 5th overall, but only 21st against the run and 11th in scoring. The Jets are 12th in total yards and 11th in scoring. Defensively, they are 10th in yards allowed and tied for 18th in points allowed. The Jets have the edge in turnover differential at even to minus-3
On the injury front, Jets linebacker Quincy Williams returned to practice this week after missing the previous two weeks and is expected to play. Defensive end Jermaine Johnson is out with an ankle injury. For the Packers, wide receiver Christian Watson is out with a hamstring injury, and Sammy Watkins will miss his fourth game with a hamstring injury.
Rodgers has completed 68 percent of his passes for 1157 yards and eight touchdowns. Romeo Doubs is the top target with 22 receptions. Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard, Robert Tonyan, and running back Aaron Jones should should all be targeted often. On the ground, Jones is first among running backs averaging 6.4 per carry and should be a factor. AJ Dillon leads the team with 63 carries and will probably share the load with Jones.
Defensively, Rashan Gary leads the Packers with 5 sacks, followed by Preston Smith with 3.5. The Packers have only one interception for the season and three forced fumbles.
For the Jets, running back Breece Hall has become a playmaker and along with Michael Carter have combined for 435 yards and 4 touchdowns on the ground. Quarterback Zach Wilson completed 14-of-21 for 210 yards in last week’s win over the Dolphins. Corey Davis and Garrett Wilson each have two touchdown receptions and the Jets have six players with at least 16 receptions.
The Jets have a relatively modest 10 sacks, but their secondary has been excellent, already intercepting seven passes, led by Lamarcus Joyner’s two. The Jets have also forced five fumbles, recovering two. Aaron Rodgers versus the Jets secondary should be the key matchup in this game. He hasn’t been intercepted at least 10 times in a season since 2010. If the Packers can avoid turnovers, they should come out on top.
The Packers are a 7.5-point home favorite.

Well fuck me Jenny Taft….it’s Game Day!!
.
Thanks for the new article boys!! 😑
John Runyan, fined by his Father.
“The third-year player was fined $5,215 for leg-whipping an opponent during last week’s game against the New York Giants in London” – Jack Baer
,
Did Runyan learn that leg whip move from dreamboat Tom Brady?
Adam Schefter
@AdamSchefter
NFL notified Buccaneers’ QB Tom Brady today that it is fining him $11,139 for kicking Grady Jarrett
.
When asked about the leg whip, Brady said he didn’t connect, so next time he’s going to get up, right in the players face, take his fingernails and give him a good scratching on his neck.
Did someone forget to tell the offensive line there was a game today? Holy shit…
O-Line??? You mean the 5 Turnstiles
WOW….Gary is rushing the QB, tied up with Duane Brown. Zach Wilson who has absolutely no awareness, runs right into Gary for a sack…matter of fact, when Gary got away from Brown, Gary turned around, and they unknowingly, basically ran into each other.
.
I’m watching it in delay it’s the 2nd quarter 12 minutes to 1/2 time.
.
This has to be one of the most sloppy, inept regular season ball games i’ve seen (both teams) Stupid O line penalties with no communication letting players rush in free, dropped passes, awful special teams…..
.
From my seat…Zach Wilson is in no danger of lasting very long in the NFL….Holy Shit
Agreed PF4L – he’s not a very smart QB… yet his career could be extended indefinitely if he played GB @ Lambeau every game…..
Post with the same email next time and the comments should appear right away
We’re almost a third of the way through the season and this is the product the Green Bay Packers have on the field. Fucking embarrassing.
Rough one to watch. Playoffs seem doubtful this year.
I’m afraid this 2022 GB Team will be identified as the most overrated, underachieving team in NFL history …
Call me Ishmael, but I think the run may be over, we may be headed back to the dark ages (70’s-80’s)
1) #12 playing like he wants an excuse to sign with a different team in 2023
2) Missing yearly blame of season-ending injuries to key players
3) Special teams …. – not nearly as greatly improved as declared in pre-season
4) Draft picks … Jury still out, thought “Butterfingers” Watson seems like a bust at this point
5) Best 3rd down D in NFL was a skewed statistic
6) SUBMIT YOUR COMMENT
With all due respect…….the prediction of the Packers returning to the 70’s and 80’s Packers has been noted multiple times besides myself, some time back in the last year or three, not sure who the others are but Cheese, MMSUCKS, would come to mind, and i’m sure there were some others.
.
So…we all agree with you.
ah yes the days of David Whitehurt, Eric Torkelson & Carl Barzalaiskus, Dave Purifoy
@Mike…..Nothing like watching Randy Wright cower down to the ground in a fetal position, before….the bears defense even gets to him.
.
True…and the saddest thing i may ever see a grown man do on a NFL field.
PF4L. totally remember those days. Wright, he of the famed wing it over the middle for pick 6 when anyone got near him
Stick a fork in their ass . . . they are done. I called it years ago. Ted Thompson, Brian Gutekunst, and the fool Mark Murphy would ruin, and have ruined Green Bay’s chances of being a dynasty. Some of the WORST drafts in history, coupled with this continuing ridiculous frugal free agency policy that has created an unatainable SB run for nearly every season that both B Farve and A Rodgers have been in since Thompson took over. What many forget is that Gutekunst IS a Thompson protege. Mark Murphy NEEDS TO GO NOW.
Joe Barry has had NO ANSWER in any 2nd half GB has played this year. MLF is not utilizing his players well either.
The MAIN reason that I have not posted in here much this year is that it is OBVIOUS that GB is over-rated and out of their league this year. They do not have the requisite talent NOR do they have the coaching staff o coach up these players. MLF has ridden A. Rodgers coattails for 3 seasons; Gutekunst made certain that it would not be a 4th . . . For any of you that could not see this . . . find another sport that is easier to assess talent.
Welcome to mediocrity my friends . . . It may now be upon us once again. Oh, and FUCK Ted Thompson, Brian Gutekunst, and ESPECIALLY Mark Murphy . . . They have earned it.
to coach up . . . not o coach up . . .
Totally agree – your Name is more relevant now than ever !!!
Only good shit to come out of this – I made $360 betting against them for the last 2 weeks… :-)
That is a positive that i can get behind! Good for you!
Yep! MM (Mark Murphy) sucks PERIOD!
LOL MM. Like you I came back from a long break for a Festivus type Airing of Grievances …..
Oops – effed up my name in last response… guess this game upset me more than I’m aware of !
I agree with alot of your points. The front Office is FKG Incompetent, could have had Randy Moss, Marshaun Lynch, OBJ, etc…. I really wish some Billionaire would step Up & buy the team ( Team stays in GB perm!!!) and shit can this corp structure crap. 2 Old women on board of directors??? FKG joke. Packers are satisfied with 1 SB every 30 yrs, GUTLESS bunch.
Also I’d love to know who the Blockhead is that decided to put Ted Thompsons name on hallowed Lambeau Field??? Are you Fkg kidding me. GM who believed in zero Defense & keeping his glorious draft picks, which he fkd up & took BUMS. Only GB front office
Oh, did the Packers play today ? THEY thought it was a bye week …..
Royce Newman…amirite? Yes, it’s a small sample size of the complete failure that is the Green Bay Football Packers but it’s getting embarrassing now. We’re entering UW territory where there needs to be some high level firings. Murphy would be great but won’t happen.
Reminds me of 2005 & 2018 Packers
At least last week they played for the first half of the game. Not so sure that can be said for today. The defense tried to keep them relevant until they were gassed out.
I’ve said for a long time that I question the front office/staff and their acquisition and evaluation of talent as being questionable, especially at certain skills positions. The guy that they are relying on right now to be a #1 wide receiver is a guy they initially tried to stash on a practice squad a few years back. That’s what they initially thought of him. They have really mostly missed on picking quality receiver talent for several years now. They only scored with MVS (although not initially) and now it’s looking like Doubs. I really hope Christian Watson gets over his hammy issues and gets on the field and starts making positive moves forward in his development and contributions. I see players like George Pickens and Alec Pierce making some positive contributions on their teams. If not for the Doubs pick, the Watson pick would be looking horrible right now. But the front office got them in this mess of relying on rookie draft picks to hopefully fill a huge void that they created.
No, this does not currently look like a team that will make a playoff run. Now they may turn it around some against the Commies (Sammy and his hammy will be back) but they need to turn a lot of things around for the remainder of this season. Not panic, just pragmatic.
“The guy that they are relying on right now to be a #1 wide receiver is a guy they initially tried to stash on a practice squad a few years back. That’s what they initially thought of him.”
.
Bingo. Lazard has definitely grown as a player and provides value given the time that he has spent here, but to rely on him to be a #1 WR when he couldn’t even secure the #2 spot the past few seasons?
.
“If not for the Doubs pick, the Watson pick would be looking horrible right now.”
.
Ain’t that the truth.
.
“But the front office got them in this mess of relying on rookie draft picks to hopefully fill a huge void that they created.”
.
Bullseye. Look on the brightside, Amari Rodgers caught a pass today! Maybe next week he can catch another one.
Ha, I’ll take the under on Amari. Gotta sign some more practice squad people to keep him off the field though.
The Watson pick looks horrible (so far), no matter how you look at it.
.
Especially trading up to nab him at #34.
To pick up on the point Mitch was making on Lazard.
Not all that long ago we were wondering who the #2 receiver was between Lazard and Allison.
.
Now were wondering who our #1 receiver is, that’s how bad Gute let this shit get.
.
I’ve always said concerning Lazard….he is what he is, he’s not a #1, or #2 receiver, he’s a role player……sorry.
.
Let me tell you who our #1 receiver is….whoever has the hot hand in any given game.
Why is Amari return kicks?? He adds nothing, and no threat to ever return one. fumble, faircatch or on occasion get blasted after 2yd gain
Lazard has always been a role player. His best year was last when he had 8 tds, but only 513 yards. If you consider that he was undrafted and came from the practice squad, that’s fine. It just isn’t someone who is going to carry the offense. But as you say, that is what the Packers decided to go with. Gutenkunst then scrambled in the off-season rebuilding the wide receiver group from scratch after Adams was traded and Scantling went to the Chiefs. It was all moves coming way too late. This franchise has made poor decisions since 2020 and drafting Love. What they should’ve done is drafted receiver in 2020 as insurance in case they couldn’t re-sign Adams, which is exactly what ended up happening. Instead they waited and drafted two receivers in the year that they had to start over. They did draft Amari Rodgers last year but he was already at the bottom of the roster. But as far as Watson goes it looks like the Packers are close to putting him on IR which would keep him out at last 4 weeks because he keeps getting hurt.
Amari Rodgers has played in 25 games thus far. Amari Rodgers has just made his fifth – his fifth – NFL completion as a receiver. A receiver selected in the third round of the NFL draft.
Let that sink in.
When I suppose that this team has a talent evaluation problem. When I joke that they are cursed with their third round picks. I’m looking in the direction of number 8.
When i talk about 3rd round picks. I’m looking in the direction of the last 6 drafts.
.
I’ve included 2017 Montravius Adams only because Gute probably had a very strong voice with that draft as Ted (RIP) was too busy staring out the window, looking at the sky.
LOL good one! who can ever forget Tightwad Ted in that Press box on camera during sun Night game, all he needed was a Blanket & cup of chicken soup. Alfred E Newman Murphy should already be reaching out to Sean Peyton as next packer coach. Let Lefluer mop up this disaster & fire him after season. There is always 5-6 openings & Peyton will have his pick, WE need to act now & correct that major FU from 2006, when team hired Mc Meatball cuz his familiarity (1 yr TE coach ’99 rollin eyes) and his Macho Pitt accent. Yet another Cadaver Thompson FU
Murphy doesn’t make a move unless he’s told to make a move by someone from the Board or the Executive Committee.
Otherwise he’s standing outside admiring his slide and his hot chocolate stand.
Your are so correct bout Murphy. Peyton is exactly what this team needs badly. A no nonsense, tough, creative coach that wins!! We will blow it as usual. How many more bubble screens to Dillion for no gain/loss of 2-3 we gotta watch????????? LeFluer has GOT TO GO
There are so many things to be said. This team has the worst offense in maybe the last 20 years. What is odd though is that they have all the same players as last year except Adams. Was Adams really holding this team together to such an extent that they would be 3-3 without him? It seems to be the case. There’s still time to turn it around but I don’t see any real options. Unlike last year, OBJ is probably not going to want to play with the Packers. The expectations would be too much. He would instantly be the number one receiver and the Packers don’t have the money to pay him like a number one. If they really wanted to make an impact they would have to trade, but then if they traded for some other team’s young star, they would probably have to get a new contract like when Diggs was traded. And the Packers have no money for that. So they are screwed.
And it didn’t have to be like this. Gutenkunst could’ve rebuilt the receiver group for the last three years instead of wasting picks on Love and Deguara and Amari Rodgers. If they had just a couple decent receivers they’d probably look way better and be at the same spot as last year. Instead they waited too long. They drafted Amari Rodgers last year who showed nothing and was instantly at the bottom of the roster. Then they traded up for Watson, who was at least a good athlete but still a long shot project player, and drafted Doubs in the 4th round. Amari Rodgers should’ve never been drafted at all. I don’t think anyone wanted him. Watson would be a decent pick if the Packers had Adams on the team still, but not so much when he’s supposed to be an impact guy week 1. Doubs has shown some ability but it’s too soon to know for sure. He has a couple tds and 200 yards receiving, so about 50 yards average a game. The Packers offense is so bad that no one has great stats though. Still, I’m disappointed with management. I think these problems could’ve been avoided or they should’ve at least made a better effort, like actually getting guys who were projected to be week 1 players.
Another one of the reasons that Green Bay’s offense looks so miserable is that there were a number of key offensive coaches that left after last years SB run. Good coaching matters. Green Bay is now suffering badly because of this. MLF did not search out the NEEDED coaching talent (other than Tom Clements) to replace all of the departing coaches. Rather, what he did was promote their subordinates instead . . . This has NOT worked out too well so far. Did any of us feel that it would?
Good point about the coaches and something I never thought about. You’re probably right that has a big impact as well, although I don’t know how much since I thought LaFleur was calling plays. But I also don’t like LaFleur that much either or Joe Barry. I think they have a personnel problem though and I’m not sure what offensive changes can be made that will make a difference.
I’d add wasn’t just Adams they lost, but you have to include MVS.
.
Add to that you have 2 vital lineman coming in after ACL’s, one being longer and more complicated than the other. But both have to work their way back in.
Jenkins was horrible yesterday and really should go back to Left guard imo. Not to mention i think he had 3 penalty’s.
And most of us can agree that Newman might not even make some teams rosters, even though Tommi tells us he’s a 10 year starter…lol
.
Oh Tommie! 🥱
Go take a nap, a loooooong one.
*it
Its the Frugal Packers. Always go the CHEAP route
I will say one positive thing about this game; I think we tried passing downfield more yesterday than we have the rest of the season combined so far.
I noticed that also, just one problem, it didn’t look good, and that may be another reason for the dink dunk game, idk.
.
Oh Well….i’ll keep watching the games, if not for anything more than the entertainment factor….and the fact i seriously can’t remember the last time i missed a Packer game.
90’s maybe….Definitely the 80’s as we’d be out golfing in fall, we’d have a radio in the cart with the Packer game on.
.
Ah, memories…young, indestructible…golfing, cigars, cold beer, Packers
Christ I hate to say it but a lot of what PF4L has been saying for 2 years now is true. Im starting to think this head office has its helmet on backwards….
Christ already knows 😏
I joke…….
.
But thank you.
Spot on
I heard on ESPN yesterday, Robert Salah & Jets said they knew Packers would cave in !!!! This coming from fucking JETS, the JETS. what a FKG joke! lets keep LeFluer, he’ll have us on track to join the lingerie league soon.
