While Kirk Cousins did his best to give away another Vikings win, the Packers’ Darnell Savage could not put the finishing touches on a game turning pick attempt, allowing Minnesota to escape with the win.
The Packers seems to be fighting a strong upstream current all game as they watched the Vikings score on their first three possessions. After Mason Crosby misfired on a 32 yard field goal, Cousins led the Vikings on a 7 play, 78 yard drive resulting in their second straight touchdown drive and a 16-3 lead.
Rodgers and company responded with a touchdown drive of their own, cutting the lead to 16-10. This drive had to overcome a first down penalty on the second play of the drive, which was a theme that seemed to impact drive after drive Sunday. The offensive line was called for a penalty on four straight drives in the first half. Only their opening drive which ended in Crosby’s 54 yard field goal and the 1 play kneel down to end the half escaped a potential drive killing penalty.
The second half began with the home team stretching their lead to 13 with a 75 yard touchdown drive. The Packers again began their next drive with an offensive line penalty and again overcame it to score on a crazy final play. Rodgers seemed to be calling timeout as the third and six snap came firing back at him. He grabbed the ball and found Davante Adams in the end zone after Adams broke free after a great inside fake followed by an outside cut that left cornerback Mackenzie Alexander in the dust.
Minnesota then drove 79 yards for what they hoped was a game sealing touchdown. Kirk Cousins repeatedly found Justin Jefferson for big gains and clutch catches including the 23 yard score. Jefferson ended the game with 8 receptions for 169 yards including 2 touchdowns.
Aaron Rodgers had two minutes and a few seconds to score a go ahead touchdown, but he only needed one play and nine seconds. A perfect strike to MVS for a seventy five yard score tied it at 31. Then Kirk Cousins did what he has done so many times before. He threw a perfect interception to Darnell Savage. The only problem: Savage dropped it. It was the second Cousins pick that was not to be in this game. Savage had an earlier pick nullified by a roughing the passer penalty on Kingsley Keke. The Vikings took advantage of Savage’s drop and kicked a game winning filed goal as time expired. A crucial injury, another ugly recurring theme for the 2021 Packers, was the late knee injury to Elgton Jenkins. Jenkins has played a crucial role for the Packers and with David Bakhtiari not ready to return, this injury is concerning. The Rams and Aaron Donald come to town next week and their pass rush will require elite offensive line play. Today’s penalty filled play must be eliminated for Packer fans to have something to celebrate next Sunday.
In other news, Tim Boyle was a blistering 15-23 for a colossal 77 yards and 2 INTS in his first start. Yet another Lions loss. That’s a Kurt Benkert type performance right there! I just knew we should have traded Jordan Love for the likes of Boyle and Benkert. You can never have too many marginal players like those on your roster. Look on the bright side, it only took 11 weeks for Aaron Rodgers to actually play like Aaron Rodgers. At this rate, he’s due for another game like that sometime around Valentine’s Day! Well after the SB. The loss here isn’t the issue. It’s the injury to Jenkins. This team has been snake bit since training camp.I’m sensing another playoff loss…..
” I just knew we should have traded Jordan Love for the likes of Boyle and Benkert.” – Princess
.
Princess….
Love and Boyle were on the Packers roster together. Boyle was the #2 receiver while Love was a never activated #3 QB.
Who would the Packers trade with to acquire Boyle….themselves?
.
Princess….
You do know that Love and Benkert are both property of the Green Bay Packers don’t you Princess?
Again, who are the Packers going to trade with to acquire Benkert?
Themselves?

“If they could catch, they’d be wide receivers, not defensive backs,”
A summary of the outcome using a Scot’s economy of words.
Look, babe, you were the one fixated on Jordan Love being behind Tim Boyle on some depth chart. Like it meant something. It didn’t. Just like you gave us such glowing reports on Kurt Benkert when he completed a few meaningless preseason passes. Like it meant something. It didn’t. You do understand the difference between the 53 and the practice squad? The NFL is full of players like Tim Boyle and Kurt Benkert. There’s absolutely nothing special about either one.
Tommi…maybe you should e-mail Gute and suggest to him that he should trade Love for Benkert.
Moron :)
.
Is Gute the same guy that guaranteed Love’s 5th year option…before he even got to town?
.
Tom M November 20, 2021
The Packers guaranteed Jordan Love’s 5th year before he ever made it to town.
As stupid as Tommi’s statement was about Gary’s 5th year option…and make no mistake, it was as stupid as stupid gets for him to spew that bullshit….
.
Tommi does deserve some credit (as he gloriously points out himself) for calling the winner of the game yesterday.
.
He picked his vikings team to beat the Packers. Let’s give the man his credit. (applause)
.
I mean, how rare is it that a fan of a team predicts that his team would beat another team on a given Sunday?
Very RARE.
.
That is so rare that it has only happened what….10, 20….30…800 million times in the NFL?
.
Again Tommi…big props….if it was possible, i wish i could buy you a cookie.
The vikings score an average of 24.1 PPG
.
They put up 34 points against the Packers defense.
.
The Packers defense averaged giving up 18 PPG before the vikings game.
.
The vikings put up 34 points against the Packers defense.
.
The Packer offense averaged 21.6 PPG before the vikings game.
.
The Packer offense scored 31 points against the vikings.
.
Can the Rodgers haters please….please tell me how Rodgers lost this game…..
.
Entertain me…..my bitches.
Aaron had one of his best games ive ever seen. He was HOF material all day long and you could tell he was practically willing his team to win. The defense struggled but honestly I was ok with the effort they put in so short handed. Savage needs to catch the F*cking ball and then we are here talking about a short handed Packers beating a divisional opponent at their house when they are playing well.
Or you know, make your field goals…..
Nothing about this is Arodges fault. He was a beast.
Good post Rebel…
.
Fair is fair…credit when due.
.
Kudos.
SHIT! As was feared; Adam Schefter has reported Jenkins is out for the year with a torn ACL. (story read on Packers Wire) Not good news with Aaron Donald and his Rams coming to town! As for good news, there were sightings of St. Brown and Deguara actually playing good ball yesterday——— let’s see more!
Agreed Mick….with Lazard out, and Tonyan m i a…it was good to see those guys being productive.
Kato mentioned awhile back he had confidence in St. Brown…i think we saw that somewhat justified, at least for a game.
.
I’m more concerned about facing the Rams with Stafford instead of Goff than i am about the defense. Although, with our current offensive line situation, it may well be a massacre.
The only hope we can have is last season when the Rams had the #1 defense….Rodgers and company put up 32 points against them in the Div. round.
.
Something not brought up around here, is Bahktiari…i don’t know what the deal is there…of course we hear all the positive things in August, then he goes on IR, then practices somewhat, then doesn’t practice…makes you wonder about a setback there.
We can survive the Jenkins injury. We cannot however get very far without Alexander and Gary. Aaron Rodgers will have to play the next two months like he did yesterday without the two defensive studs to have a shot at a SB. Since it took him until week 11 to play like “Michael Jordan” it’s unlikely 38 yr old Rodgers can sustain that level of play for the next two months. We’ve been watching this movie for the last decade. We know how it ends. Gary should be back. While no one has given us even a remote time table on Alexander’s return this year. And just stop with the Lazard and Tonyan injuries. Rodgers never threw to Tonyan when healthy. Rodgers has Adams and MVS, as good as any WR combo in the league. MVS is turning into a big time WR. He’ll be resigned while Adams won’t. There isn’t that much of a drop off from Lazard to EQ,Taylor, or Winfree. And let’s not forget that critical Randall Cobb addition either. Plus Dillon and Jones make excellent receivers. They’ll be no “Aaron needs help” bullshit. This is the end of November EVERYONE has injuries. No excuses. It now or never for everyone’s favorite sweetheart. Time to be great.
Time to be great…you’re talking about the O line correct?
.
37 year old Rodgers will be just fine.
If you’ve been paying attention…
He’s been great for a long, long time.
.
One thing i liked about your post is you mentioned the word bullshit.
You are the authority on bullshit, i’ll give you that.
.
Speaking of which….can you tell us more about the Packers guaranteeing Gary’s 5th year option back in 2019?
.
I’m sure everyone would like to hear the details.
Take your time Precious.
The injuries are just piling up too much now. The Packers got by for a while, but there’s just too many. The loss of Gary hurt quite a bit because he can put pressure on the QB and he can play the run. If Gary played yesterday, I’m sure the Packers would have won that game. The Jenkins loss is another huge one. How many Pro Bowlers is that? Nijman held up for this game, but there’s a book on him and the next team will be 100% prepared to exploit his weaknesses. It’s pretty clear Bakhtiari had a set back, otherwise he’d be at least practicing. Royce Newman was already a week link, now there will be a couple of weak links on the line. Also, the Vikings receivers aren’t really that great, but they get away with push offs constantly.
Royce Newman will soon be back stocking Walmart shelves where he belongs, and Patrick will go back to being the career bench player he is.
.
Turner is what he’s been his whole career, a consistent serviceable player.
.
I want to see a bigger sample size from Runyan, but he’s held up for the most part in his 2nd year.
.
Getting rid of Wagner was a huge mistake.
Like i said in the off season…losing him and Linsley hurt.
.
Btw Deep…you called it exactly right concerning the defense and the game before kickoff.
Keep up the excellent comments.
Deepsky sounds like a Deep-fool.
The Vikings receivers aren’t that good? They are arguably the best WR tandem in the NFL. Some would say Metcalf and Lockett are better in Seattle. Maybe a Bucs fan would claim a Evans and Godwin? Maybe?
But no, you say they are not that good…..
Soooo…. all wide receiver groups in the NFL, according to you, “aren’t really that great?”
As per push offs, no. That is more of a Davante Adams thing. You know the refs look for any excuse to call penalties on anyone facing the Packers. Had there been an illegal push-offs, we all know the refs would have called it.
This WR team you criticize scorched the Packers D for 16 catches (!) and 251 yards (!) and 3 TDs (!) but they aren’t that good? So, if they aren’t that good and they produced like that it sounds like you’re saying the Packers defense sucks. Is that the point you were trying to get to in your roundabout way?
I disagree. The stats show the Packers defense is not the debacle you make it out to be, one so bad that receivers that “aren’t really that great” can put up 16 catches, 251 yards, and 3 TDs. Keep in mind the Vikings top 2 WRs are 7th and 13th in the NFL in receptions, and Jefferson is 4th in yardage.
Jefferson gets fewer targets than Davante Adams because the Vikings have multiple great WRs. Adams has 9 more catches and 35 more yards than Jefferson on 17 more targets. Think of it this way: If you threw 17 passes to a WR and he caught 9 of them for 35 yards (!) would you think he was great?
Jefferson is a better receiver than Adams. Ergo, if Jefferson isn’t “that great” then you’re saying Adams is rather pedestrian. Hey, I’m not saying it. You are.
His head pops up for a W in the Vikings Superbowl…a regular season game to get to 5-5. Obviously you read this site out of sheer jealousy still but don’t post when the Vikings are playing like shit. There is good news though we have a new poster named Tom that is more pathetic that you. We all know that is pretty pathetic.

The only difference i see between the two of them….
Is 2 different usernames.
1) One username masquerading as a Packer fan.
2) Dissociative identity. With one personality clearly a coward.
I’m just happy that Gute had the damn good sense not to trade up for Justin Jefferson.
.
I can’t imagine a Green Bay Packer world without trading a 4th to move up and snag Love at 26.
.
Could you imagine the heat Gute would have gotten if he traded up for Jefferson?
He would have been laughed out of town for such a foolish pick.
Like…somehow Jefferson could have helped us last year…this year?
That is just foolish.
.
Better to pick an almost certain franchise QB with Love.
We didn’t need immediate help, we needed vision for the future
Gute stepped up and provided that leadership.
.
Not sure why Gute guaranteed Gary’s 5th year option before he got to Green Bay.
But maybe someone smarter than myself can shed light on that.
.
That’s why we admire viking fans so much….so knowledgeable.
.
SKOL!

Adam Stenovich, Packers OL coach, is very high on Royce Newman who has actually played better the last two weeks. Which is what you want to see from a late 4th round pick thrust into being a starter his rookie season. Improvement week to week. I happen to think Royce Newman will be an above average starting guard with a 10 year NFL career. At minimum. You think he’ll be unemployed working at Walmart, PF4L? This is another one we’ll revisit. Your wrong PF4L. Just like you were wrong about Gary, Benkert, and telling us ZaDarius Smith has trade value. Your problem is you can’t judge talent. The only thing you know how to do is shit out stats. And overreact after a loss. Telling us how you’ve got it all figured out. Look ladies, stop with the fucking drama. Despite missing 7 starters. Despite all the penalties, the missed FG, and the missed INT’s. Despite Eric Stokes playing like the rookie he is. We were still in that game to the very end. Next month they’ll come to Lambeau. On grass, in the cold, that will help take away much of what they do. I like our chances. I read Nathaniel Hackett is on the short list to replace Matt Nagy in Chicago. This would not be good for Packer fans. Hackett and Fields could be a thorn in our side for the next decade. If I’m Denver, I fire Fangio, hire Hackett, and trade for Aaron Rodgers. That would entice Hackett to take the Denver job over Chicago. Maybe. It would get them both in the AFC.

You also think Mark Murphy was a NFLPA attorney.
You also think Gary got his 5th year option guaranteed before he even signed his contract.
Maybe thinking….isn’t your strength.

You think he’ll be unemployed working at Walmart, PF4L?
.
Princess…if someone is working at Walmart, they aren’t unemployed.
That’s very basic Princess, it’s worrisome, you aren’t smart enough to know the difference.
***************************************************
Princess….your vikings won…
Can you stop your pettiness for just a week and bathe in the euphoria of your vikings win?
***********************************************
Yes Princess….i did say a talented healthy Za’Darius Smith has trade value and i’ll stick with it.
He’s a playmaker coming off a Pro Bowl season.
He’s not Oren Burks, or do you think Oren Burks has trade value?
.
Yes…i felt for the 12th pick, Gary underperformed expectations.
I also said multiple times that being the 12th pick he deserved to start.
This season he started by default.
He isn’t the playmaker Z Smith is, but he’s done a good job.
.
Last i checked Benkert is under contract with the Green Bay Packers
************************************
Here’s one difference between you and i Princess, i can and will own what i say.
Can you say the same?
**************************
Now tell us again Princess, how the Packers guaranteed Gary’s 5th year option …before he got into town.
.
Can you own that, or will you just continue being the piece of shit coward you’ve always been in here?
Take your time Ragnar.
Remember when I said MVS wasn’t gonna make it? Yeah, I’m a moron. So great to see him reach his potential
Well, at least you can own what you say…and you’re honest.
.
Has MVS reached his potential?
I loved some of his catches Sunday.
What i really loved on his 75 yard td catch is that he didn’t slow up his stride looking back for the ball.
Granted it was a slant, not vertical, but nonetheless.
Rodgers threw him a dime in stride.
When a speed player slows up his stride, the pass is usually overthrown.
Good to see them connecting.
.
Now…reaching his potential?
I hope that’s not the case.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Packers handle him this off season.
No Jason, your not a moron. If you recall, Gutekunst drafted three WR’s late. J’Mon Moore 4th, MVS 5th, EQ 6th. With the thinking if one can develop, great. I always liked EQ but he’s never been able to stay health. Jordy and Adams took time to develop and they were 2nd round picks. It’s not surprising then that MVS took longer. If the plan is to go with Jordan Love next year, then there’s absolutely no reason to sign anyone older than 28. You sign MVS and let Adams walk. There’s no reason to sign MVS if you keep Rodgers. Erin can’t hit him on a deep route therefore making him bad for his stats and constantly reminding everyone Erin is no spring chicken.
As far as this season, we’ll go as far as the defense takes us. Which means we’re doomed if we don’t get Alexander and Gary back. Sundays loss to the Vikings was a microcosm of seasons 2011 thru 2018 where Erin put up pretty stats but ultimately ended in disappointment because we lost in a shoot out. The same fate awaits if we don’t get healthy on defense. “Defense wins championships” isn’t just idle chitchat. Don’t listen to me. Don’t listen to Adan Stenovich. Royce Newman will join PF4L as a Walmart greeter in the not to distant future because he’s no NFL talent. So says the wise and sage talent evaluator PF4L. Where’s Andy? Does he want to bet on some this?
I liked your “Don’t listen to me.” there Killer. Good advise.
Who’s Adan Stenovich ? Is he related to Adam?
I think that’s his GED tutor.

No Jason, your not a moron. That’s my job.

The reason i won’t answer PF4L constant questions about Murphy being a NFLPA attorney.
And about when i said Gute guaranteed Gary’s 5th year option before he got to Green Bay….
.
Is because i make shit up as i go along…it makes me sound smart.
.
Yes PF4L, it’s bullshit (happy now?).
I’m sure everyone here already knows i’m full of shit. I don’t know why i have to admit it.
.

Championship teams…win Championships.

If Defense wins Championships…why wasn’t Rodgers traded for a blue chip defensive player plus a bunch of choice draft picks to draft more defensive players.
GEE whiz….i don’t know….lol
.
The Packers traded a 4th for a offensive player who won’t play for years in the 1st round in 2020.
Do the Packers even know that defense wins Championships Ragner?
Do the Packers even want to win a Championship?
.
Princess…maybe you should e-mail Gute and inform him of the foolishness of his 2020 draft.
Dillon?…Dequara?
All offense…hmmm.
.
Then….finally drafting a defensive player in Kamal Martin.
Who the Packers got rid of after 1 season, not unlike a lot of his other draft picks past the 2nd round.
.
You better have a come to Jesus talk with Gute Princess.

To settle this Princess…i called your team and asked them what wins NFL Championships.

Sometimes I wonder why… I understand giving a player a break, but why pull Dillion out of the game the closer you get to, or in the red zone. The Packers replaced Dillion with Taylor on at least 3 drives when they got within, or close to the red zone. On the drive that Crosby missed the field goal having Dillion in the lineup in the red zone would have helped. The Packers were getting Dillion the ball on passes to the sideline against DBs. On that drive alone they did it twice. I would take that matchup in the red zone. What do the Packers do pull Dillion and put in Taylor. I’ve commented before about the Packers odd player rotation in games. Andrew if you read this do not bet on Dillion scoring many TDs, as he will have to break off a long run or pass reception. It appears the red zone for some reason is off limits for Dillion to be on the field. Sure I know Dillion is tired from the long drive? I don’t think so. With that said why after the half time break do you play Burks in place of P. Smith until the Vikings drive the field? I also wonder why against Cousins the Packers DBs appear to be in position for an Int., but totally misjudge the ball. Remember the tie game a few years back when a Packer DB was right in position for an Int. near the goal line and he totally misjudged the ball. I think Thielen caught that pass for a TD? We could say a lot about Savage and Stokes in this game, but I thought for sure the sideline pass from Cousins to Thielen on the final drive was going to be a pick 6 by Douglas. It kind of reminded me of the D. Adams catch along the sideline against the Cowboys on the final drive of the 2014 playoff game.
Right on Howard…
.
I think since he was drafted, there have been plenty of instances in the red zone that we’ve wondered why he wasn’t involved.
You have quadzilla….use him.
.
I can remember saying, why did you draft him if your not going to use him.
Here is my analysis of Dillon….I used some very high tech algorithms and some super fancy equipment for this. When I watch on TV…he goes into the pile he comes out the other side still running. Nobody wants to tackle him so keep giving him the ball. See this NFL coaching and player analysis stuff is just not that hard.
GB sure misses Alexander — he is one DB that makes a pick when given a chance. Thinking back to the pick where he left is empty zone, ranged over to make a leaping pick….
Alexander is Gutes shining star….
.
Under the eye test, we all see the difference in play between Alexander and King.
.
PFF has the same result….career average grades,,,,
.
Alexander 77.5
.
King 58.8

Now if Gute could just pick some good players after round 2.
We know who doesn’t win championships. And that’s Aaron Rodgers. But you ladies will always have his stats to tug each other over. And the excuses. It’s always someone else’s fault. The flavor of the week? Royce Newman! Which is why Erin needs to go elsewhere and finish his career. I’m sure there’s no Kevin King’s or Royce Newman’s in Denver. You girls are so much happier when we lose and Aaron has such pretty stats. You were all so confused last week when we won in-spite of Erin and not because of him.
