Packers News: David Bakhtiari’s Return Odds Slim, TE Josiah Deguara Activated Off PUP

Update on David Bakhtiari Injury

Packer fans love their players, more so than other fan bases, and LT David Bakhtiari is a player that will be sorely missed on the field, not only for his talent, but for his personality.

As you may recall, Bakhtiari suffered a torn ACL back in week 17 of last season during a win over the Chicago Bears.

Presently, Bakhtiari is on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list.

USA Today quoted coach Matt LaFleur as saying that the team is currently planning for week 1 as if Bakhtiari will not be available — a matchup against NFL Champions, New Orleans Saints, that will be an early test for the recently drama-laden team.

TE Josiah Deguara and Eric Stokes
Green Bay Packers cornerback Eric Stokes (21) and tight end Josiah Deguara (81) ride bike to the practice field during the first day of training camp Wednesday, July 28, 2021 in Green Bay, Wis. The NFL’s COVID-19 protocols prevented players from riding kids’ bikes and interacting with them directly as in previous years, players will continue biking to practice on brand new Schwinn bicycles.

TE Josiah Deguara Activated

Coming off the PUP list is Josiah Deguara. Deguara also tore his ACL last season; it occurred during week 4 against the Atlanta Falcons at Lambeau Field.

Due to this injury, Deguara saw very little action in his rookie year. He completed a single reception for 12 yards in week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings. To be fair, a small child on a sugar high could complete a pass against the Vikings defense.

LB Ray Wilborn at Packers training camp 2021
Green Bay Packers linebacker Ray Wilborn (57) is shown during the second day of organized team activities Tuesday, May 25, 2021 in Green Bay, Wis.

LB Ray Wilborn activated from COVID reserve list

Not much info on this due to privacy reasons and stipulations from the player’s agreement. He was placed on the list around July 28th. You do the math. He either had the virus or was in close contact with someone that did, but that is speculation on my part.

The pressure is now on Wilborn, signed earlier this year, to prove his worth.

Hey PF4L, this past weekend I was driving through some small towns and I passed a restaurant called T.Willy’s! Needless to say I had a good chuckle. It was probably pronounced Twilly’s but I can call it whatever I want.

  2. PF4L says:

Yea!! Cheese….i’ve seen it, if we’re talking about the same one.
    .
The one i know of is in Bruce Crossing Mi. heading 45 North near Hwy 28.
Not a real exciting town, but we used to stay at Tulppo’s on the corner when we went up snowmobiling. Like i said, not much going on there, but it was a snowmobilers heaven, 360 degrees of groomed trails (wide open, very little traffic) no matter which direction you go.
That was awhile ago as i moved up to the Minocqua/St. Germain area soon after.
We would ride up to Rockland (Henry’s INN) a lot at night for their buffet and get stupid after. A lot of good times up there.

    • Cheese says:

      That’s the one!
      .
There’s definitely not much around that area and I can see why it would be a hotspot for snowmobilers. I was heading to Ontonagon to check out the Porcupine Mountains and Bond Falls along the way. Both are spectacular sights to see. We also stopped at a restaurant that fed wild black bears right in their backyard so customers can watch bears through the window as they eat. I saw three different bears roaming around, and some days there’s even more. I didn’t see any fencing around so I’m glad I didn’t run into any in the parking lot.

      • PF4L says:

Yep, used to spend occasional weekends up at Porcupine snowmobiling and skiing over looking Lake Superior with the woman. Strictly snowmobiling with the guys, snowmobiling and skiing with the little Lady.
        .
I don’t like the bear feeding deal. I know it’s cool to see.
But they are creating a potentially dangerous environment
        .
My favorite area up there is Lake Gogebic, year round playground and jumbo perch fishing.
        .
I used to call the U P God’s Country, that is until i went to Lake Tahoe and was mesmerized..

Bond falls are bad ass. Ottawa forest is bad ass. Copper falls is even more bad ass (but not that close to those).

My personal favorite up there is pictured rocks in Munising. People talk about the apostle Islands all the time but pictured rocks is leaps and bounds better….at least in the summer.

Hey off topic – anyone have any favorite nature/hiking places that in Nicolet forest? I’m heading up to catch a practice & then roaming around Crivitz/Lakewood for a few days. Particularly any places that are good for wildlife – I’m bringing my 600mm lens for training camp and would like to get some more use out of it. Thanks guys!

    Random…..
    .
    Dwayne Haskins
When you go from being the 15th pick of the 2019 draft, signed to a 4 year 14 million dollar contract fully guaranteed, then you get released after year two.
    .
    To….being signed to your 2nd team on a 1 year $850,000 deal.
    You might be….a bust.

Congrats to Charles Woodson on being inducted into the H.O.F The only player to win the Heisman, NFL rookie of the year, NFL defensive player of the year, and a super bowl title. A. Rodgers stated Woodson was the greatest player he ever faced, or played with. Also, he was a great team leader. He enters the Hall as one of the greatest, and most decorated DBs’ in NFL history. Pretty damn impressive, and well deserved.

    • Ed says:

There was an old saying :
Three fourths of the earth is covered by water.
      Charles Woodson covers the rest.

  7. PF4L says:

    Nice Mick, Ed.
Props to the Woodson, Manning and the other HOF’ers
    **************
When i think of Woodson, i think of leadership, and i think of SB rosters.
    .
Awhile back i started judging the Packers SB worthiness by comparing the current year rosters to the rosters of yesteryears teams that could win a NFCCG to get to a SB appearance.
This is why, in past years i’ve said the Packers don’t have the roster for a SB appearance.
    .
I’ve wrote numerous times in here, compare the current roster to the 1996 roster, and the 2010 roster and you’ll quickly understand why i felt the way i did.
Those were strong teams, with strong leaders, both with a Championship Caliber defense.
    .
This season, Gute has tried to keep the roster together, i’ll contend that was his only viable move.
We did lose Linsley, Wagner, and Jamaal Williams, but added some draft picks to replace them. We’ll see what that looks like sooner rather than later.
    .
What else is different?….that’s easy…a tougher schedule.
    .
So the question is, comparing this roster (even at 90) to the SB rosters of years, what are the Packers chances of getting to the Super Bowl……?
    NOT GOOD. Sorry
    .
Can the Packers still get to the SB?
Is Aaron Rodgers still the QB?
    Anything’s possible, but……….
For those smarter than a 5th grader, they know, it takes a team.
    *****************
Can someone tell me what’s wrong with Kevin King?
    Did he stub his toe?
Does he have an ingrown finger nail?
    Is he sulking?
    Where is this dude?
Seems like it’s been a….secret. Reminds me of the BS McCarthy years.
(don’t want to give out any secrets for the pre-season games)…as E. Wolf used to say…GAMESMANSHIP!!
Maybe with an injury report we can find out about him and Z Smitty sometime this week.

Fuck that corny ass family night bullshit.

I’m traveling, but if you wanna send something over, I’ll put it up.

Y’all been whining for three years. Take a fucking hint, I’m really bad at this in case it’s not already obvious

      • PF4L says:

Although rebel may have a point…..
        .
The realty is, rebel is more the problem, than he is the solution.
        .
Maybe if rebel spent a little time writing (any) quality NFL content in here instead of attacking people, maybe that would add to the quality content of the website.
        .
I mean, can we go any lower?
        What’s next?….we start talking shit about people’s Momma’s, sister’s?
        .
        What say you Tommy?

        • PF4L says:

          Yea….about what i figured.

First off Jason I loved your response! If your gonna come back at someone, come on strong! Ok man I get it you suck at this. No biggie. You really should get Shawn to come back and write more, he was the best writer on this site. Was a time he even did a recap of every game.

PF4L “..Maybe if rebel spent a little time writing (any) quality NFL content in here instead of attacking people..” well i dont write because I cant. I suck at 1st person/2nd person/3rd person transition. Thats why I go to sites where other people “write”. As for all I do is attack, well im pretty sure the only person I attack is you. Otherwise im pretty down with most the people on this site. I used to like you too, years ago, but the last 2 years youve gone all in on Rodgers to the point thats its obvios your a Rodgers fan, not a Packers fan. Thats ok. But stop pretending like you care about the future or success of the Green Bay Packer Organization.

          • PF4L says:

The last 2 years? I’ve been in on Rodgers since day one.
            .
I started defending him heavy when you NFL experts started declaring him dead meat back in 2015 when you wanted Hundley to start.
            .
What’s next?…if Rodgers has a passer rating of “only” in the 90’s this season, are you going to go back and finish digging his grave?
            .
What’s obvioUs rockhead…is you don’t know shit about me.
            .
If i’m not a Packer fan…then what team was i a fan of 20 plus years before Rodgers was drafted?
            .
For the love of God…say something intelligent for once in your life.
            .

  9. PF4L says:

What happened to the fireworks show?
    They got rained out.
    .
When are they going to shoot them off?
    Yesterday, afternoon.
    Afternoon = during the day
    .
This is one time where the Packers brain trust should have gotten Rodgers input.
But then again he might have said something dumb, like fire them off after the pre-season Detroit game…ya know, at….night?
    .
Nobody outsmarts the Green Bay Packers, not even mother nature.

    • PF4L says:

Check that…Pre-season game against Houston 8/14 at night.
      .
Sometimes it pays to check the schedule, before clicking post comment

  10. PF4L says:

I have taken the position that drafting a QB in the 1st round in todays NFL, and waiting a year/years before he starts was an anomaly.
Rodgers not starting for 3 years was…an anomaly.
    .
In related ..some have stated it took Aaron Rodgers 3 years to get ready to be a starter. When i read 5th grade level comments like that all i can do is grin and have empathy for whoever writes something like that.
Reality = Rodgers didn’t start because (Favre). Not because he wasn’t skilled enough and needed years to learn.
    .
Per ESPN LIVE: Who was the last 1st round QB pick that didn’t start in a game his rookie season?
    Answer: Jake Locker in 2011.
    .
Now taken further, another question could be,,,,Who was the last 1st round QB to never get activated and suit up for a game his rookie season? Don’t…over think it.
