Packers Appeasement of Aaron Rodgers May Have Saved 2021

Of all the rumors and speculation circulating the latest episode of Rodgers/Packers drama, the one about Rodgers seeing himself as a team leader that deserves more input into the workings of the team were quite true, per NBC Sports:

“The organization looks at me and my job as just to play,” Rodgers said. He explained that, given his unique circumstances, he should have “a little more input.”

He expressed frustration with the team’s failure to seek his opinion on matters such as players who will or won’t stay with the team.

“At least to be in the conversation makes it feel like you’re important, you’re respected,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers said that his overriding goal was and is “trying to be a resource for the organization.”

When asked about 2022:

“I really don’t know,” Rodgers said. “Things in that direction haven’t really changed at all. . . . . There’s gonna be a lot of tough decisions at the end of the year. I’m just gonna enjoy this year.”

Randall Cobb celebration

This comes out just as Packer Nation was blindsided by the news that former Packer wide receiver, Randall Cobb, is likely to be traded back to the team.

Rodgers will now have a proper slot receiver and one less thing to be pissy about. The clock is ticking on Rodgers’ career and it’s only fair that he at least has all the basics that he had grown accustomed to.

Of course, there is no certainty that we will be see a healthy Cobb this season, but all fingers are crossed.

It’s a strange time to be a Packer fan. We are in the darkest timeline and I can not wait to see what bizarre nonsense that the 2021 NFL season will bring.

Rodgers is present at training camp and things seem to be moving forward again as normal.

The show must go on, but for how long?

No more excuses now that “assistant GM” Aaron Rodgers is back on board.I’m wondering if Randall Cobb can play corner since that was the consensus excuse why we lost the NFCC championship game amongst Rodgers apologists. Gutekunst wanted to restructure Rodgers contract so we could sign CB Kyle Fuller to fix the problem. While Rodgers would rather throw a tantrum and get 31 yr old Randall Cobb. One thing is certain, forget Matt LaFleur’s game plan. Rodgers won’t be bothered with that. He’s going to drop back every play and force everything to Adams and Cobb. Because only Rodgers knows best. He’ll get the shit kicked out of him over 17 games. And it will be everyone else’s fault. This is just like Favre’s second year with the Vikings when everyone kissed his ass. It ended in disaster. When can only hope for the same…

Ok, Davante Adams just made his situation real..very real.
    .
In a presser he said..”I’ve earned the right to be the highest paid”
    .
    He made himself crystal clear.
    .
What isn’t clear…is what’s the baseline for the highest paid?
Is it based on Hopkins 2 year extension?
Or is it based on the highest average per year of actual money paid out?
is it Deondre Hopkins 27.2 million year that the talking heads are saying on TV?
    Or is it more realistically…..
    Hopkins 5 season average of 18.895 million/year.
Or is it Julio Jones at 22 million/year
    .
My personal thought on Hopkins deal…..
    It’s not 27 mill/year, not even close.
It was added money to a current contract to reward him.
If Adams wants over 27 mill a year…..
If i’m the Packers i tag him and trade him….💯

    .
I’m confused because, there is a big difference between 22 mill and 27 mill when a player is demanding he be the highest paid.
    .
More on this stuff later and discussing Adams past signs that it was more about him, than the team.
Your team is in salary cap hell next season(not his fault), you just got Rodgers back, and you stand up there in front of the National media and demand top money?
    Kick fuckin rocks
    Keep that shit in house.
    That was a bitch move.
    ****************************
Credit due: Gute…for acknowledging that Rodgers should be in the conversations (in public).
He did also lay claim in the past when he acknowledged he could have done things differently while taking some responsibility.
That deserves respect, not only from fans, but maybe from Rodgers, if that’s possible.
    Those were positive constructive gestures.

Apparently X. Howard, a CB with the Dolphins is disgruntled with his contract, and wants out after re-negotiations with the team fell through. His reasoning is he didn’t understand, and doesn’t like the contract he signed in 2018. In reading his story of why he is disgruntled, he lost me at “I didn’t understand my contract when I signed it”. I wonder who his agent is, after all; he is paid to inform you of what the hell you are signing. This story, and many other ones related; is proving that the NFL has an epidemic of “divas” ; and “it can’t be my fault” attitudes; this is only going to escalate in the future. Is it the Dolphins fault; I doubt it. Is it the agents fault; possibly. Is it Howards fault; absolutely.

New assistant GM Aaron Rodgers will push for a deal for Davante Adams. The only way Adams gets a contract extension is if Rodgers remains with the team beyond this season. And the only way that happens is if Rodgers does something he hasn’t done in 11 years. Win a SB. Don’t hold your breath. Rodgers may call himself Tom Brady and Michael Jordan. He isn’t, and never will be.

As far as Randall Cobb, I see that a lot like Donald Driver’s last year with the team. He wasn’t worth a roster spot but he was a fan favorite and had just won “Dancing with the Stars.” Cutting him wouldn’t have been worth all the drama especially after Favre. A developmental 5th WR was a small price to pay. And so it is with Cobb. If trading a 6th round pick for Cobb and giving up a developmental WR to make it seem like Rodgers has some say in personnel moves. Sure, whatever. Can’t wait for this “last dance” to be over so we can be done with this clown.

You guys will laugh at this one:

For some reason, I thought Tom M’s post was Piffle. I read it and was like, “Holy shit, either Piffle stopped sniffing Rodgers’ panties or he got a hold of a bad dose of panties, maybe too rotted or something!” Then I realized my error. Of course, it wasn’t Piffle!

Everyone likes a good “I told you so.” At least the one who told you so sure does. That’s me!

      I told you the following:
      1. Rodgers would report to camp.
      2. Rodgers would report to camp on time.
      3. There would be a reworked contract.
      4. The reworked contract would be symbolic and a way for Rodgers to save safe but he would get no more money.

As predicted, Rodgers lost in the show down. He blinked first, he blinked hard, he is blinking so long and so hard some people mistaken it for being asleep with his eyes closed. I knew he’d lose and he’d blink. He does not have the strength of will or moral certitude of someone like Carson Palmer.

The Packers always intended to use Rodgers this year and get rid of him before next. And they will. They are now spinning it like Rodgers wanted that. He wanted the opposite. He did not get what he wanted. He got nothing of anything important that he wanted. Cobb is meaningless as are the other tiny concessions like “get to pick his team.” He always had the retirement card to play and already had that.

This is total victory for Murphy and Gutekinst and pure loss for Rodgers. As predicted.

Of course, the bird will come home to roost once Rodgers and Adams and Z. Smith are all gone next year.

Gutekunst knew he would not get any credit for anything good as long as Rodgers is here. Nor should he. All this time he is trying to set himself up for success post-Rodgers. It will not go well for him.

Rodgers was either going to show up or not. People claiming to make bold predictions are doing so based on a limited number of options.

Also, I don’t see what face saving Rodgers needed to do. He calmly told the world his frustrations with the team at the press brief. I guess if you want to be anti Rodgers that’s fine. But any normal person who watches that is probably not going to come away with a bad opinion of him.

And look how right you were PF4L. Rodgers got a voidable year in 23 and Randall Cobb. According to you that’s the same as making him a FA next March. This is it ladies. You can call it the “last dance” or the farewell tour, or the Aaron Rodgers vanity project. I know, I know, you ladies think this is just a mere expansion roster with no chance of getting to the SB. But don’t you fret. Our hero will soon be traded where multiple SB’s await in Denver or Miami. What’s the over/under that Rodgers pulls a Favre and never wins shit once he leaves? I want in on that action….

SPECIAL INTEREST: For Brett Hundley fans (all 3 of you). It was reported that Hundley was signed to his 3rd team since leaving the Packers.
    .
In light of Carson Wentz injury, Green Bay’s most famous gum chewer/deerhunter has been signed to the Colts as a camp arm.
His term of employment may be extended contingent on the severity of Wentz injury.
    .
Since leaving the Packers at the end of the 2017 season, Hundley has kept busy completing 4 of 10 passes.
    .
    What does this mean?
Hundley’s stated goal is still alive and well.
    .
Being inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.
