Packers Betting Odds & Chances For A Championship

The Packers are off to a great start in 2020. They are currently sitting atop the NFC North Division. The team is hoping to improve upon their incredible 13-3 season from 2019 and defend their NFC North title. Individual leaders include Aaron Rodgers with 887 passing yards, Aaron Jones with 303 rushing yards, and Allen Lazard with 254 receiving yards. The 2020 season is the 100th season for the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League and their 102nd overall. It is also their second season under head coach Matt LaFleur.

A Brief History of the Packers

The Green Bay Packers are an American professional football team that is based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The team is the third-oldest franchise in the NFL (Arizona Cardinals and Chicago Bears are one and two on that list) and happens to be the only non-profit, community-owned major league professional sports team in the US. Home field since 1957 has been Lambeau Field, named after one of the team co-founders, Earl “Curly” Lambeau. The Packers are considered to be the last of the “small-town teams” that commonly made up the NFL in the 1920s and 30s. Nowadays, large metropolitan centers with a huge live and TV audience reach are more common based on the league requirements of franchise fees and television ratings. The trophy awarded to the Super Bowl Champion at the end of each NFL season is named after Green Bay’s head coach Vine Lombardi, who led the team to victory in the two first Super Bowl match-ups. The team has since won the championship two more times – in 1996 and 2010. The Packers also have the distinction of having won more games, including playoff victories, than any other active NFL franchise. At the end of the 2019 season, that total sat at 791 wins. The team also has 18 divisional titles and eight conference championships.

Where Packer Fans Can Bet On Their Team

Sports betting has been legalized in a handful of states in the US. This includes wagering on professional sports including NFL football. If you live in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Illinois, you have access to brick-and-motor and online sportsbooks where you can place bets on your beloved Packers. With the kind of stats they have amassed historically, and their current standings, it would be a safe bet to say the odds are in your favor when wagering on a Packers game. There are many great sites for you to visit to place your bets. Let’s take a quick look at what your options are in those three states.

New Jersey

Sports betting was legalized in New Jersey on June 11, 2018. The first legal retail sportsbook in the state was launched on June 14, 2018. There are currently 10 brick-and-mortar sportsbooks in operation along with 15 online sportsbooks. All are regulated by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE). The biggest monthly handle so far in New Jersey was recorded in August 2020 and totaled $667,979,150. Since June 2020, more than 80% of the monthly handle in the state comes from mobile/online wagering.

Pennsylvania

Sports betting in Pennsylvania was first legalized on October 31, 2017 with the first brick-and-mortar sportsbook being launched on November 15, 2018. The first legal online/mobile sportsbook came into being on May 31, 2019. To date, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reports that there are 12 brick-and-mortar sportsbooks and 8 online sportsbooks in operation in the state. The largest monthly handle recorded to date was in August 2020 at $364,985,422.

Illinois

The newest state to welcome online sports betting legalized it on June 28, 2019, but the first legal brick-and-mortar sportsbook did not open until March 9, 2020, with the first mobile sportsbook opening for business on June 18, 2020. The Illinois Gaming Board says there are currently a total of 7 brick-and-mortar sportsbooks and 5 online sportsbooks in operation. The largest monthly handle to date was recorded in July 2020 at $52,524,612.

Green Bay Packers Sports Fans Turn To BetMGM

BetMGM is is an online gaming platform that was created as a joint effort between MGM Resorts International and GVC Holdings – a UK gambling operator. The project resulted from the United States Supreme Court’s ruling in May 2018 that eliminated a sports betting ban that was established by the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992. MGM and GVC made their announcement of the 50/50 joint venture in July 2018. The main goal was to target US states that have legalized forms of sports betting with an MGM-branded betting platform. The joint venture was renamed ROAR Digital in January 2019 and MGM forged official partnerships with several professional sports leagues in the following months. By October 2019, MGM had a betting partnership also in place with Yahoo Sports which connected the BetMGM platform to the online sports website. In Conclusion

The Green Bay Packers have a long and amazing history in professional sports. The team has had many good seasons and so far, 2020 looks like it could be another great one for the team. This is great news for Packers fans who like to get involved by placing bets on their favorite team. If you live in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Illinois, you have access to several brick-and-motor sportsbooks as well as online sportsbooks that are legal for you to wager at. This means that you no longer have to search online for sites that are based outside of the United States to participate in online sports gambling. You can keep your interests at home while you play at home. Plus, a portion of your wager stays in your state and goes towards worthy projects that will rebuild the local and regional economy. One such platform worth exploring is BetMGM which has partnerships in professional sports and at online sports websites making it even easier for Packer fans to get into the game with a bet or two.
