News: Packers Play Raiders in Canada for Preseason, LaFleur Talks About Injury, Aaron Rodgers Addresses Beer Chug Haters

Packers will play as the away team in a matchup with the Oakland Raiders scheduled for Week 3 of the Preseason. Winnipeg is not nearly as much of a trek for the Packers as it will be for the Raiders but it’s preseason so who gives a shit anyway. As a side note, the Raiders will move to Las Vegas next year which I think is going to be a great move for the team. Vegas is a lot of fun and being able to regularly watch NFL games there makes it that much better.

Raiders will host the Green Bay Packers in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada for a preseason Week 3 game on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019.

I haven’t posted about Matt LaFleur’s Archilles injury because, when I first heard that the new coach for the Packers hurt himself playing basketball at Lambeau, I thought it was the stupidest thing I have heard in awhile. The fuck, man? Really?

Now that I am out of denial that it actually happened, here are his remarks on Tuesday about the injury(transcribed by ESPN):

I know I’m supposed to be off it for the next four weeks or so. Hopefully I’ll be back at least in a walking boot by training camp. … I know a few years back, I remember when Sean Payton broke his leg on the sideline. I don’t anticipate coaching from the press box or anything like that. I think as long as I handle my business and follow the doctors’ orders, I don’t foresee it being an issue come Week 1. As far as limitations during the preseason, there might be some, you might see me in a boot on the sideline. But like I said, I’m going to take it one day at a time right now.

Today was not what I’d like to be doing. I’d like to be hands on in the drills, but again, I’ve just got to adjust to it, make the best of it and make sure that our communication is spot on in terms of the expectations of what we want to get done each and every day. From a competition standpoint, in terms of not being able to go down there and play basketball a little bit, that’s brutal. I don’t know how I’m going to stay in shape.

Aaron Rodgers was playful in his initial response to the injury:

I actually have a script here I was supposed to read about him because Jimmy [Graham] kind of ripped him about his athletic ability. ‘I want to say that Matt LaFleur is a highly athletic former athlete who had an unfortunate accident in the gym. But because of his exceptional diet and work ethic, he’ll be back sooner rather than later.’

More recently, he had this to say about it:

All I know is he had surgery on Sunday and he was in the meeting on Monday. He’s been around. It hasn’t changed anything. It’s probably a little more frustrating for him but he’s on the headset calling plays in. Not today but he was doing it a lot yesterday. He’s in all the conversations. It’s not going to change anything. Like I said, I think his superior diet and attention to his body is going to allow him to get back a lot quicker than most guys his age.

It is what it is so LaFleur will just have to do the best he can.

Rodgers had a nice mic drop moment following the teasing he received for unsuccessfully attempting to chug a full beer while at a Bucks game:

To the other QB Beer Chuggers:
“For some of them, there’s finally a talent where they can say they are better than me.”

I’m more of a bourbon/Coke or White Russian kind of guy so I’m not going to judge him.

As you can see in the video above, Offensive Lineman David Bakhtiari had no trouble with the challenge. Of course, he looks like he could chug a beer and eat a peach at the same time.

I am not surprised that Rodgers can’t chug a beer. He always seemed like one of those people that would have a few wine coolers and be drunk. Nothing wrong with that. Not everyone can be the legend known as Kyle Orton. Kyle Orton drunk pics are the best. I would love the opportunity to race Bahk in a beer chugging contest.

You mix coke with bourbon? Man, what’s wrong with you? Drink that makers/four roses straight

It is okay to mix, with ice. Bourbon and ice, Old Overholt and ice, Bulleit 95 and ice, Makers Mark and ice, Bushmills and ice. Redbreast and very little ice.

Save the Coke (Diet Coke) for the morning shower.

Would never mix Maker’s Mark and Coke that is insane. Cheap Bourbon and Coke is great but the older I get the more annoying all that sugar is. I’d much rather smoke a blunt though.

I tend to prefer my bourbon neat, but there are some bourbons, particularly Blantons, that a rock tends to really open up the flavors. Some of the barrel proof stuff improves with a rock as well. I don’t do the pop mixes, I tend to avoid pop altogether. A monkey I have finally thrown off my back
