Not that the Green Bay Packers were necessarily interested, but Bruce Arians says he has no interest in replacing Mike McCarthy.
The former Arizona Cardinals coach, who retired following last season, has said he would only unretire to coach the Cleveland Browns. He reiterated that on Wednesday.
“No, not at all,” Arians says in an interview with CBS Sports Radio. “If I ever return to coaching it will only be in Cleveland.”
Arians went on to agree that Green Bay is a great coaching job, but again said he wouldn’t take it.
“Yeah, it is,” Arians said. “I have no desire to coach in Green Bay.”
The interesting thing here is McCarthy is probably going to be the frontrunner for that Browns job. He has connections there because of general manager John Dorsey. He’s already been endorsed by former Packers center J.C. Tretter.
Probably the only thing that keeps McCarthy out of that job is if the stink on him is currently too great.
I think we are going to continue to hear from coaches and former players on the Rodgers-McCarthy relationship. I saw a snippet yesterday that Jeff Saturday said Aaron Rodgers would roll his eyes at playcalls in the huddle back in 2012. I wouldnt be surprised if we heard from guys like Charles Woodson, Greg Jennings, Jermichael Finley. The old guard.
Of course we’re gonna hear from Greg Jennings. The whole reason he has a career in sportscasting is because he “used to play with Aaron Rodgers.” Much like Jordan Rodgers. Otherwise nobody would give a shit about what some washed up Minnesota Viking had to say.
It isn’t who he is or what he’s done or who he’s played for. If he said a bunch of nice (untrue) stuff about Aaron Rodgers you would welcome it with open arms (sometime with him this site and people on it have done exactly that when he has).
None of that is what you find threatening. It is the actual truth that you fear. Accurate insight is not kind to your God on Earth Aaron.
Did I say anything about being untrue? No, I didn’t. Not that he doesn’t make valid points from time to time, but Jennings wants attention and he knows he can easily get it by talking about Rodgers (who he’s played with) because the media and consumers will bite. He’s been whining about shit ever since he left GB, and is STILL doing it five years later. No way does he get the same attention by sharing info on Christian Ponder.
There are several other former Packers in the media business and you don’t hear them constantly talking about Rodgers.
ssorta had a feeling it could happen. I think they’ll roll with Joe Philbin, good company guy.
Ariens just kinda stands around & mouths the words “son of a bitch” for about 3.5 hours on gameday
don’t want him anyways. Please no McDaniels
I’d rather have Eric Bieniemy, Zac Taylor or Pete Carmichael
Rodgers is toxic. I the Packers are going to end up with Philbin as the coach. Look for Rodgers to demand a trade in a couple years.
Read this. If you can handle some truth.

Bruce is known for his excellent judgment.
This team needs a new voice, and energy, The most exciting thing i saw Arians do on the sideline is yawn.
I predicted the Browns would hire McCarthy within a week after him being let go.
I’ve given it some more thought. Dorsey, Wolf, and Highsmith know McCarthy better than anyone in the league, they know what he could bring to a team. (IF) they don’t want him….i think that speaks volumes.
Be interesting to see how this thing plays out.
I dont want Arians or Harbaugh. Getting nervous about all the Harbaugh talk. I dont want his antics on the sideline in GB. But I love the Saban rumors.
