We’re frustrated. You’re frustrated. The Green Bay Packers are frustrated. What is the base of this frustration?
Losing, of course. However, it seems the frustration is based around coach Mike McCarthy like never before. We have given him several names. Buffoon. Fat Mike. Gravy Head. Gravy Fart.
McCarthy can’t seem to get out of his own goddam way this season. In the the loss to Seattle last Thursday, everyone wants to criticize the decision not to go for it on 4th-and-2 with 4:20 left in the game.
The Packers never got the ball back. And there’s a good reason for that. The defense was gassed and injuries were mounting.
Mismanagement, anyone?
Safety Tramon Williams is one of your veteran leaders. He was pissed after the game. Or “frustrated” as being pissed off is now labeled when you have to kowtow to someone’s ego. That didn’t go unnoticed. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the team’s offensive leader, has been “frustrated” at several points this season.
Both players have had to answer for their frustration. Here’s what Williams had to say.
“There’s going to be times guys come in here and show frustration,” Williams said. “But showing frustration may mean just coming in here and talking to your teammate. It’s a family. We’re all going through the same thing.
“We have to use each other to get through that. I got one game a year that I’m really frustrated. One game. I think it was the Seattle game.”
Thing is, the frustration is palpable. It’s not just one player and it appears to be boiling over.
At this point, there’s one opportunity to have a chance to save this season. That’s this week at Minnesota.
Even if that happens, McCarthy has to be gone. It’s not just us questioning his buffoonery anymore. It’s the guys on the team. You can’t function like that.
Don’t expect it during the season, but there’s no way the Packers can continue forward with McCarthy after this season. You can only ship out so many players before you have to wonder if the players are actually the problem.
