Even though it appears the Green Bay Packers have no plan to give running back Aaron Jones a heavy workload, he’s still getting plenty of praise.
Jones has just 17 carries on the season after serving a two-game suspension. He is, however, averaging 6.4 yards per carry. It’s early, but Jones averaged 5.5 yards per carry as a rookie. So this type of production is becoming expected.
He’s explosive to say the least.
Much more so than Jamaal Williams or Ty Montgomery. Here’s a sample.
Here's a stat: #Packers RB Aaron Jones has generated first downs on 41.2 percent of his carries this season
Aaron Jones — 17 carries, 7 first downs, 41.2 percent
Jamaal Williams — 47 carries, 11 first downs, 23.4 percent
Ty Montgomery — 16 carries, 3 first downs, 18.8 percent— Michael Cohen (@Michael_Cohen13) October 2, 2018
As it turns out, this stat from Aaron Jones leads all running backs with at least 15 carries this season. Nobody is generating first downs more frequently than he did the last two weeks: https://t.co/0sXkGKwR6C https://t.co/CfJaDBRg4L

#Packers seriously have a talented RB in Aaron Jones.
– Scoop block between Corey Linsley and Lane Taylor climbed easily to the Milano (58)
– LT David Bakhtiari helped open up the backside with a great block
– Jones great vision and patience saw a cut back lane and broke free pic.twitter.com/Mj58pvNdd8— Cut N Dryve (@CutNDryve) October 2, 2018
Over the last two years, 43% of Aaron Jones' carries have gained five or more yards. That's the best rate in the NFL.
Meanwhile, 33% of Jamaal Williams' attempts have gained 5+ yards — right at league average. #Packers

Something else to note. Jones is also currently Pro Football Focus’ second-rated running back at 81.5. He also looks to be greatly improved as a pass blocker. Although a small sample size, PFF has given him an 81.4.
Coincidentally, the Packers play the Detroit Lions this week. The Lions currently sport the worst run defense in the league. They’re giving up 157.8 yards per game. That’s more than 10 yards more per game than the second-worst run defense — Arizona, which is giving up 141.3.
Even if Mike McCarthy limits Jones’ touches, he still has the chance of having a big day on Sunday.
This game has absolute snooze fest written all over it. I have zero interest in this game. Thank god the Brewers are still playing.
My friend wtf? Are you kidding me ? You’re gonna pass on a game this team plays against a huge rival – in what promises to be one of the toughest divisions in NFL… Even in blowouts (by either side) these games have been memorable in some way. Matt Stafford has the ability to slice the GB secondary w the help of his man Golden Tate….
NOT to mention the interest this good article has peaked in wanting to watch an emerging RB talent…,
Enjoy the Brewers – I can’t wait for the Packers game….
– fan since 1967
Speaking of snooze fests, baseball…
Good stay away ,please stay far away!
