Blake Martinez: This Is A Middle Linebacker’s Dream Come True

Green Bay Packers defenders, former players and even other coaches have been hyping Mike Pettine’s defense since the Packers hired him.

The Packers are currently sixth in the NFL in total defense. Of course, that was helped by the pounding they put on the Buffalo Bills last Sunday.

I think it’s fair to say we don’t really know what we have in this defense just yet. The same group gave up 386 yards to Washington and 480 yards to Minnesota. So giving up just 145 to Buffalo skews things a bit.

Still, there are a lot of guys playing well. One of them is middle linebacker Blake Martinez.

Even though he led the league in tackles last season, Martinez is playing even better this season. And to be fair, part of the reason Martinez led the league in tackles last year was because the Packers’ defense was on the field so much. That hasn’t been the case so far this year.

At any rate, Martinez told Jim Rome playing for Pettine is a dream come true. Here’s the clip.
