When you have dominated another team like the Green Bay Packers have the Chicago Bears lately, you don’t have to say much. It’s not surprising then that no one on the Packers had much to say in reaction to Akiem Hicks’ comments about their offensive line.
The Bears traded for star defensive end Khalil Mack last weekend. Even though his first practice didn’t come until Monday after a prolonged holdout, the Bears still expect Mack to play against the Packers. Hicks obviously does. When asked about the Packers’ offensive line, he said “I know those five guys can’t block Khalil Mack.”
Naturally, the comment was presented to the Packers. The guy who will have to block Mack, Bryan Bulaga, only had positive things to say about Mack.
“Any offense? It is what it is. Yeah, I have to be prepared to get ready to block him. I have to play a really clean game and block him,” Bulaga said. “He’s a good football player. It’s just a matter of trying to execute your job to the best of your ability throughout the entire game.”
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers didn’t seem too worried about Mack.
“I don’t need to react to every comment that’s made,” Rodgers said. “I think I’ve made that pretty clear.”
“We’re focused on (Bears defensive coordinator Vic) Fangio’s defense. They’ll plug him in accordingly,” Rodgers said. “Not sure how he’s going to play, but I would guess they’re going to try to get him out there as much as possible. But we’ll be ready and look forward to the challenge.”
The Packers have only faced Mack once, back in 2015, when Mack racked up 15 sacks. One of those came in that game against the Packers. However, Mack only had two tackles. The Packers can live with that. More importantly, Green Bay beat the Raiders by 10 in that game.
Just like they’re going to beat the Bears on Sunday night.
