When you have dominated another team like the Green Bay Packers have the Chicago Bears lately, you don’t have to say much. It’s not surprising then that no one on the Packers had much to say in reaction to Akiem Hicks’ comments about their offensive line.
The Bears traded for star defensive end Khalil Mack last weekend. Even though his first practice didn’t come until Monday after a prolonged holdout, the Bears still expect Mack to play against the Packers. Hicks obviously does. When asked about the Packers’ offensive line, he said “I know those five guys can’t block Khalil Mack.”
Naturally, the comment was presented to the Packers. The guy who will have to block Mack, Bryan Bulaga, only had positive things to say about Mack.
“Any offense? It is what it is. Yeah, I have to be prepared to get ready to block him. I have to play a really clean game and block him,” Bulaga said. “He’s a good football player. It’s just a matter of trying to execute your job to the best of your ability throughout the entire game.”
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers didn’t seem too worried about Mack.
“I don’t need to react to every comment that’s made,” Rodgers said. “I think I’ve made that pretty clear.”
“We’re focused on (Bears defensive coordinator Vic) Fangio’s defense. They’ll plug him in accordingly,” Rodgers said. “Not sure how he’s going to play, but I would guess they’re going to try to get him out there as much as possible. But we’ll be ready and look forward to the challenge.”
The Packers have only faced Mack once, back in 2015, when Mack racked up 15 sacks. One of those came in that game against the Packers. However, Mack only had two tackles. The Packers can live with that. More importantly, Green Bay beat the Raiders by 10 in that game.
Just like they’re going to beat the Bears on Sunday night.
Mouths don’t win games! Pack has a couple of all pro tackles. Think they will give a little extra? You bet they will. Our TE’s and backs may just lay some hurt in Mack burger too. Hicks? Big mouth!!
Hell yea!! Words don’t win games. Everyone has a big mouth, until they get punched in the mouth.
Bulaga was all pro? Missed that memo. Bulaga is a pretty good tackle, dont get me wrong. But the guy is coming off ACL surgery, if the bears were smart, they would test him early and often with Mack.
On the flip side, I see Jamal Williams being pretty busy in pass protection to help chip on Mack. Thankfully big Ted did hit on a LT that can be left on an island.
Yes Sir, and i’ll add this, Bulaga didn’t look like he was ready for heavy battle the little i watched of him. Being out of commission for awhile, it takes time to get it back, but i don’t think the Packers want to live with plan b right now.
