Bart Starr’s Message For Aaron Rodgers

Mordecai Jones by Mordecai Jones

If you know me, then you know I love Bart Starr. Greatest quarterback in Green Bay Packers history.

Although Aaron Rodgers may have something to say about that and probably already does.

Bart, always a Packer, has embraced his successors over the years. Loved Brett Favre. Loves Aaron Rodgers. Both guys that have and do elevate the Packers. And that’s what it seems Bart Starr wants. He is the quintessential Packer.

I will not argue about this.

As many of you probably know, Bart is not in good health. He’s had a stroke. He’s had stem-cell therapy in Mexico. He can hardly talk.

And yet, he wanted to deliver a message to Aaron Rodgers on the eve of the Packers’ 100th season.

Rodgers cited the toughness he learned from Brett Favre for coming back into that game on Sunday after hurting his knee. But I don’t know, man. Didn’t he go out and win that motherfucker for Bart Starr?

    I don’t get it.

    What was the message?

It was like the article stopped half way complete.

    Is Mordecai OK?

Its in the video if you watched it.

    • Cheese says:

The message was that Bart Starr wrote Rodgers letters of support and encouragement when he was first starting out in 2008. No specific message was mentioned other than they were supportive. There was nothing about Starr delivering “a message to Aaron Rodgers on the eve of the Packers’ 100th season.”

I used to read Peter Kings articles religiously until he stated getting political.

Monty really needs to get some better writing talent on board if I’m going to continue to bother checking this site in the hopes of finding anything insightful, or at least entertaining. Quality has gone way down hill in the last year.

Agree. Could use more in depth previews, actual analysis of games, ect

Didn’t know Monty was still around. It looked like Mordecai and Joseph holding the fort.

Honestly, about the only reason I still come here is the comments and it is basically a message board. Not for the journalism. And even that interest is starting to wane. Basically people here PMSing 24/7. Throw in the autistic Vikings fan and…… meh

Personally, I like this site. Most every other Packer site is filled with austere thinking Homers who turn into complete assholes if you even suggest something is amiss with their beloved Packers. Homerism sucks. That is why I come here. You can say what you feel. The problem is that “tough talkin” Packer Homers are usually the real “snowflakes” . . . and so they cannot handle the truth and seldom return.

    • Empacador says:

Very true. I did notice that some of the douche bags that start shit here with their smarmy comments do frequent other sites as well. It’s like they come here to say what the other sites won’t let them say in an attempt at protecting the team against blasphemy. Kinda like Favre and his “If you ain’t a fan of me you ain’t a true Packer fan” spiel.

      • MM²SUCK says:

Yep! It is scary when you see your narrative being “outed” as a big fucking lie . . .

    • Icebowl says:

Hmmmm…. Do you think their might be a pre-existing prejudice if you’re using that same monniker on other sites…. Lol…
Totally agree w you MMsquared… It’s a show your emotions site – no holds barred – hell, we even attract Queens and guys that go by MikeDitkasMom – I’ve had some great chuckles on this site. Hoping for more to come – especially if D aS*** ends up behind center on Sunday.

Amen ICEBOWL! I love the irreverence on this site. Very open and fun. Sometimes too much! Lol!

Been coming to this site long before the usual nitwits started the constant, never-ending mewling about how they could do this shit so much better than any of the guys who’ve made a career of it. Peanut gallery heroes who ‘put it all out there’ and ‘keeps it real’ when they have zero skin in the game beyond flapping their gums about their view of the state of things through their shit-colored glasses. Never mind that the team’s been successful as hell, we need to get this shit right, stat.

I stopped coming by when it morphed into Total Piss and Moan. About everything.

Monty just played to the lowest common denominator to whore up the clicks and make bank while brainless, ‘bold’ clowns who ‘tell it like it is’, fueled the decline of this site to the hollow, empty-shell-of-what-it-used-to-be, piece of shit it is today.

And yet you still persist talking down to everyone here. This is one of those guys that frequents elsewhere people. Same smarmy attitude, holier than thou. LOL. Oh what it must mean to be THE biggest and bestest Packer fan and deride everyone that doesn’t think like you. All hail King Douche!! Packers.com is calling, you’re needed there stat! LOL! Fuck with any other fans lately? Of course you did because that what you do! Killer 2.0.

        • Empacador says:

          And if you need a clue “Savage” 57 I wasn’t talking to PF4L. :)

        • Savage57 says:

Just stating the obvious, Skippy. If you claim you come here for the breaking news and quality of the writing, you’re either retarded or a fucking liar.

You come here for one reason, and one reason only, and that’s to join all the others with their ‘unique enlightenment’, lambasting the Packers for every move they make under the flag of ‘telling it like it is’. And then you fucks slap each other on the back for your special insights into all the problems the team has, the stuff any other person who doesn’t flatline an EEG sees without shitting themselves over it and somehow manages to take in stride.

I’m pissed about what’s happened with the site because there used to be some balance and redeeming value. Condemnation when it’s earned, with the same condition for praise. For being such football savants, you guys spend your time crying at the wind, eager to assign blame and assail stuff that just happens when there are 31 other teams vying for the same prize.

One thing we can all agree on, is we love our freedoms.

Free to choose which websites we visit.

There are plenty of websites out there, where fans believe Ted is awesome and should continue getting his lifetime pass.

There are plenty of websites out there, where fans think McCarthy can do no wrong and shouldn’t be questioned.

There are plenty of websites out there, where fans believe that Murphy is a genius for giving Ted unquestionable free reign throughout his tenure. Many of these fans also believe Murphy should win NFL Executive of the year,,,every year.

There are plenty of websites out there that cater to folks who have difficulties forming their own thoughts and opinions.

There are plenty of websites out there that you probably will be happier visiting. Stop torturing yourself by coming in here and reading our shitty post, they seems to put you in a pissy mood.

            Exercise your freedoms….

Happy Trails on your new adventures Savage, take care and have a wonderful day.

People usually don’t consider Starr a great QB because he had a great defense and his numbers look poor compared to quarterbacks today.

But when you compare Starr to his peers, he was phenomenal. Starr led the league in passer rating for 5 years and his QB rating was probably 20-30 points higher than the average QB of the 60s. Rodgers has only lead the league in QB rating twice. Favre never lead the league in passer rating. And Starr didn’t have a bunch of Pro Bowl receivers and tight ends, in his entire career he had only 2 Pro Bowl receivers and 1 Pro Bowl tight end.
